What was Lutz thinking?

He takes everyone out, yet he puts Balwin back in with less than a minute to play. Nice way to take the other guy out considering he actually went to the basket, but got packed.

wow we win and you still complain. nice.

Jerrell Lewis can in and turned the ball over, then proceeded to commit a foul on defense. Just trying to teach him a lesson

Maybe he just wanted to know why it happened

yea if you were watching jerrell came off and lutz sat his ass right next to him and gave him a little talk.

I agree, I think he was just trying to send a message.

Go niners!

Lewis comes in and does the exact same thing he did vs Eric Williams, he drove the basket against smothering defense. I understand the call. Lewis could be good someday, but he has a lot to learn.

My opinion is that Jerrel will transfer after this year, and I wouldn’t blame him. I understand Lutz being upset with him - but to put him in at the end of the game with the walk-ons and then yank him for making a bad play was pretty embarrasing. (Mitch was coming in for him before he made the bad foul on defense.) I felt sorry for the guy and thought Lutz should have left him in - even if he did something stupid right after being talked to. There may be things going on behind the scenes but we only see what happens on the court and that move did not look good tonight.

On a positive note - glad we hit some 3’s and I’ll take the W.

Maybe Bobby had given instructions to get the ball to the walk-ons and felt Mitch could do a better job, especially after Lewis made his mistake. I know that’s a little far-fetched, but you just never know.

If he does leave, maybe we could get Habel and Tatum this year…

Putting a Kid(young kid), that never gets to play, in at the end of the game and then yanking him for making a bad play seems a little harsh under the circumstances. It would be different if he was in the regular rotation, but Jerrel is actually like a walk himself this year.

exactly, there’s no way that gordon didn’t do just as much wrong as lewis

.

i think its funny that we have to take withers out and then proceed to take the largest lead of the game no problem. the irony

I think that’s because Lee went unconscience…

Gordon and Lewis are held to different standards for a reason.

It seems Lutz wants Lewis to understand he has to know his role. Truthfully, it doesn’t matter what Gordon does because he is the end of the bench. Tripp and Travis would be the last two guys we would ever play in a competitive game.

Lewis on the other hand is a playable backup this year, but more importantly, he will be a needed player next year since he will be considered a “seasoned” guard. He is not allowed mental mistakes because he will be very important (if he is still here) at the beginning of next year.

Plus, Lewis has a chance to be a very good player, but he just seems to have a mental block in learning roles and responsibilities.

Hey,

thanks for telling me what happened. I didnt notice who it really was that committed this and was taken out for that reason. I can see why he took him out then.

I never have much to say on this board but I like to read all the comments made. I think that the call by Lutz is bull*&^%. Sure the guy needs to learn but why can’t it wait until the game is over. Pull him to the side after the game and ask what was going on and what was he thinking. Once Lutz made the descision to put all the subs/walk ons in the game then he should have sat down let them play and correct them after the game is over. They hardly ever get a chance to even get in the game why not just let them play. Sure the guys got potential, but yanking a guy in that situation is just brutal. I felt terrible for him. Say what you want but I disagree with the call. Thats my two cents.

You guys are absolute idiots. That was a classless move by Bobby Lutz for taking Lewis out. If given the opportunity Lewis could be just as good as Baldwin, most likely better. I think the only reason Bobby took him out is because he had just shit his pants because for four years, or ever since Mitch has been here, he has not seen a point guard taking the ball to the hole and trying to do anything. He is used to seeing his point guard fly up the court, stop at the 3 point line, play with himself, either turn it over or toss some lazy ass pass to a wing. It was obvious tonite that Leemire was the best point guard on the team, not Mitch.

However, back to my point, Lewis busts his ass in practice every day and Bobby cant give him 2 minutes of playing time. If he wanted to teach him a lesson, he could have told him after the game what he did wrong. It was embarrassing to Lewis to bring Mitch in the game after he had gotten maybe a minute of playing time in a 25 point game. That was a complete bullshit move by Bobby and it would make all the sense in the world if Lewis left. He should be playing more here and could probably play other places.

Basically, that was the most classless act I have seen out of a college basketball coach in regards to having respect for his own players that I have seen in a long time. Embarrassing, wear your orange tie somewhere else.

so mitch wasn’t a good point guard today. well lets just let stats take over.

mitch 4 assists 1 turnover
lee 1 assist
curt 3 assists 0 turnovers

judging by this mitch still is the best point guard on our team. he consistantly gets more assists than turnovers a game. what more do you want from him. he was also playing with a broken finger need i remind you. give mitch a break he didn’t do anything wrong today.
