When we will hire someone?

It seems like we have a couple of new names everyday or every few hours that are being reported by someone. Auburn, Fordham, etc have already made decisions about their coach. I hope we do not wait much longer. We do need to fill a couple of spots for next year and get the remaining players back together.

Someone mentioned after the Final Four. I think that may be the consensus.

Relax, it’s already been stated that nothing will happen right away. Dubois is in China until late next week and the ultimate decision is his. They said there might not be a coach until after the Final Four and that could be the case. It might even be an assistant from a Final Four team.

I do agree that we’re behind on any possible recruits but that’s how it works. That is one of the things administrations sacrifice with a news coach search. Signing date is April 12 so the new guy (and any assistant he can grab) will be working hard those first few days.

April 14th :stuck_out_tongue:

also it ends May 19, so he’s got some time to bring some kids in to visit if they are his own recruits he was previously talking to or shall we say “he was aware of”

getting the right coach is more important than rushing to land 1 or 2 players.

We have an anxious board to get someone in here. I would rather the hire take a little time and wait till after the Final 4. Getting the right person is more important then worrying about a recruit at this point.

heheh … besides, the longer it takes them, the longer we are all interested in the off season - - that’s good, right? Or is it?

In all honesty, if this is really CHP’s call, he should have rescheduled his trip to China.

I am sure there are other times in the year he could visit tainted plastic factories and massage parlors.

This trip is to commemorate the opening of our new Chinese Relations and Criminal Justice Center. He’s over there with Dr. Paul Friday who is my Int’l Criminal Justice Prof, and this trip has been planned since before the semester started. Can’t really reschedule on such short notice, especially since this is one of our biggest international programs in school history. Plus, the Chinese probably wouldn’t think too highly of him if he tried. Last minute rescheduling is, as I understand, a phenomenon of the western world.

I don’t mind if they take some time, then it is more likely they make the right decision. The only position we need to address ASAP is back-up point, whether we are going to lock-down Davis or give Trevin a scholarship or something else. Then we would be 2 deep at every position.

Do you honestly think my comment needed a realistic answer?

just sharing information.

I appreciated it as I had no idea if the trip was personal or school related. If it had been personal then perhaps delaying would have made sense. Since it is school related and planned then I understand 100%.

Assuming we keep the players on our current roster. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a late hire and only 8 or 9 scholarship players on our bench next year. No need to scramble to land JUCO’s or 3rd tier players to fill scholarship spots. I think next year will be an ugly year for 49er hoops…hope I’m wrong!

there are still some decent players available. if we can keep all of our current players, convince davis to recomitt, maybe land mcdonald and one other player and save one scholarship then i think we will be in good shape.
