Will be playing at Gulf Coast this season (same school Derrio went to). He lit it up in high school, although I don’t know the caliber of the opponents. He averaged 28.5 per game and had many games in the 30’s and 40’s.
excellent question. maybe we didn’t get in soon enough. or maybe we did and didn’t get much encouragement from his end. maybe our chai (sp?) was not right. recruiting is a very deep mystery. i refer you to messers johnson & guyn.
After having watched Green in practice I am very excited about seeing him on the court in a game. Maybe this guy is on his level. Not all Juco guys are a bad idea.
I was afraid that we were not going to be going after any JUCO’s this year. I am glad we are back to our old style of JUCO. I would not be surprised if we signed two JUCO with our two empty spots.

You have anymore insight on his game? who does he remind you of? what player would you say he is better than?

Not sure if you are being sarcastic. JUCOs aren’t always a bad thing. Seems like we have a lot more freshmen than years past. I don’t see a negative in a 3 year JUCO though if he has the talent. But I think 2 year JUCO should only be used to fill an immediate gap or the guy is just awesome all of a sudden.
We don’t need a JUCO unless the best in the country falls into our laps. Line up is set for this year. If we don’t identify a decent target, let’s hold the schollie for the spring or perhaps next year.

Count me as among the hold-the-schollie school of thought. There’s no significant holes in the roster (like when we were panicking over point guard depth before Green & Briscoe joined the team) & Trevin Parks might even surprise the same way that Dijuan did and earn himself a schollie. We have the luxury of being able to wait and see if another high profile Noel Johnson or Terrell Vinson falls into our laps. Besides, it’s not exactly unusual for Charlotte to start a season with under 13 players on scholarship (note the late transfers of Gerrity, Jerrell Lewis, the ineligibility of Phil Jones, etc. etc.) nor is it atypical for a school to do so (it seems like Xavier has about 11 players on scholarship each year, too)
That being said, I’ll quote Bob Huggins (shudder) who said, ‘Recruiting is like shaving. Do it every day or you wind up looking like a bum’. There’s bsolutely nothing wrong with setting up visits or seeing what a player like Kirkland can bring to the table. Like every year, I’m interested to see which recruits show up to midnight madness.

fixed. Think that's what u meant. But I agree, I guess it's good to save a schollie if possible for late commitments.
Gulf Coast teammate Eric Buckner just visited LSU and it looks like Charlotte is pursuing him as well. Buckner’s height has been listed as high as 6’10.5"
If we do sign a JUCO player, I’d like to see us redshirt him. We’re solid at most positions for the next two years, so I’d rather the guy get a year to practice with the guys and in the system.
i can get behind going after a big guy like this even if he isnt that highely ranked. he has a good program that has offered and we will need a center for after phil is gone.
