So everyone thinks that we will have a worse team next year?
s9er it is not from a transcript but it is what he said, I believe that it was after the Miss. St. loss, maybe someone else here on the board can verify this but Iâm pretty sure that was it.

Lutz also called Coleman out for not knowing the scouting reports, it sure hasnât hurt his time on the court. Taking a coaches comments after a loss as a blanket statement is a bit much.
If you can watch these games and tell me that we make the attempt to get the ball to Curt enough Iâd give your argument more thought. Also, apparently Curt is going to have to snap during a game to properly show his furstrations to get rid of the âlaxâ tag. Watch the GW game Saturday, we will have a stretch where jack up 3âs for a stretch and donât even give Curt a look (it happens every game minus Rutgers), tell me he doesnât look frustrated.
I agree with you, I think that we have horrible shot selection from our guards. My point is that Curtis doesnât help things out when he takes plays off on offense, doesnât post aggressively. Jason Williams pointed that out a couple times last night.

I just think it is frustration on his part. Sort of like a WR who doesnât bust ass on a route b/c itâs a run play.
If we had a true point guard that could penetrate and dish, Curts offensive numbers would be better than they are now. I wish we could see Curt and Carlos Williams on the court together.
Next season = rebuilding year
what makes you think we will have to rebuild next year? weâll probably have one of the best backcourts that weâve ever had and we should be fairly deep too.
The key is WHEN he gets the ball in the post. He doesn't assert himself much down low(sleepwalks) and the other times we don't get him the ball. He is the best talent we've had in a while but his turnovers and lethargic attitude hurts us some too.
If he wasnât so lethargic heâd average 20 rebounds per game instead of 13.
Iâm sorry he sleep walks make that 30 rebounds.
No how about 35. Yeah 35.
I assume youâre being sarcastic. If you are you might be the only person I know that doesnât think that about Curtis. He was diagnose with a sleeping disorder and his laziness has been a knock on him his entire career. Heâs done better in most areas, just not consistently on the offensive end. He disappears sometimes.
So everyone with narcolepsy is lazyâŚ
Are you serious??
Lazy doesnât get you chiseled like a rock. Lazy doesnât get you praise from two of the toughest coaches in America (Kelvin Sampson and Phil Martelli). Poorly Coached? Yes. Does he have great instincts in the post? No. However that doesnât make him lazy. I havenât seen many Niners with the exception of Eddie that have worked as hard as Curt.
Lazy on offense, what do you not understand about that. Everyone knows that he takes plays off, superstars canât do that. That is my point.
i think heâs one of the biggest hustlers on the team, give or take I think Iâd like to keep one of the only four players in uncc history to go over 1500 pts

How do you make that assumption when you donât know his role in the offensive plays? If Coach Lutz saw it heâd blast Curtis out. Iâve never seen him or heard him speak of such a thing.
My 2 cents. You come on this board flaming Curt from your first post on. HmmmâŚpersonal?
I donât have anything against Curtis Withers. I think Iâm stating the obvious when I say that he takes plays off, thats all. Bobby Lutz did say that about him. Iâm actually a big fan of his, I just think that when he has those lapses that it kills his draft status.
Iâm speaking for kpplaya27 by the way.
The announcers for the St. Joeâs game were getting on Curtis Withers - saying he was getting frustrated and not hustling enough. I donât think there was anything personal going on there.
Withers is an unselfish guy, perhaps even to a fault. And he doesnât exactly run from one end of the court to the other all the time. But when you look at the box score at the end of the game - thatâs one helluva productive player.
I agree, I will reiterate. Curt is a double double master. He just isnt the emotional team leader that Eddie became last year. At times he seems like he tries to be but he doesnt seem vocal enough to his teammates (demanding the ball in the post is one example). The guy is obviously very talented and the Niners are most definitely better with him than without. That doesnât mean we wont be as good next year.
I think that next year we will have a better overall team. Backcourt will be dominate and frontcourt will be good enough. I agree w/kpplaya27, curt is a great talent but takes plays off, coach lutz was disappointed w/him early in the year.
This is comical.
You two must be twins or something because youâre the only two who think that we will be a better team without Curtis Withers.
First. Bobby has neverâŚEVERâŚpublicly called out Curtis for dogging it on plays. If anyone not named kpplaya/fakeCLT49er/curtisstolemygirlfriend wants to say other wise than so be it.
Second. Nobody and I mean nobody goes out and runs their balls off every play. Could you imagine what would happen if Curt did. Instead of playing 30-35 heâd only be able to go 25. Itâs called pacing yourself.
Third. You guys donât take into consideration the flow of the offense. Just because he doesnât post strong and dunk the ball on every play doesnât mean that heâs dogging it. It means that the play is not designed for him. Some of you guys have called him out for weak picks. Heâs not trying to pick the guy. Heâs trying to make his defender step out on the guard allowing Curt to shoot to the basket forcing the defender to run back allowing the ball to be rotated and Curt to post. Could he set a harder screen yesâŚbut heâll get called for a foul if heâs out their crosschecking the guards.
Fourth. No coach measures intensity based on what a guy does offensively. Itâs the steals, blocks and rebounds that measure how hard a guy works. Curt does all these things, he runs the floor and he never complains about his role. If you guys think Curt is âdoggingâ it, then youâve never played and sometimes I wonder if youâve ever seen a game of basketball in your live.
