WKU Post Game

We lost a game where we shot 51% and the opponent shot 30%. We were up 26-8 at one point in this game. Mark Price subscribes to the Roy Williams School of Timeout Use. The Monstars took Jon Davis’ talents away. Oh well, future is still bright.

We lost our mojo early on in the 2nd half. Didn’t score in the first 4 minutes.

That foul called on White at center court at the end killed us. It looked like WHITE was fouled. Not the other way around.

That was awful to watch… One step forward, two steps back

Reminded me of an Alan Major coached team

Tough road trip. Clearly our players are scared of hillbillies.

And 2 pts in first 8 minutes.

And something crazy like 6 turnovers on first 4 minutes of 2nd half.

Maybe worst implosion I’ve seen after a relatively good 1st half.

Was today’s implosion worse than the NCAA 1st Round loss to State in 2005?

I did not watch the game today because I was at the baseball game, but listened to most of the 2nd half. It sounded like we were playing bad and also getting some terrible calls. Sources in the shoutbox confirmed we lost because of both reasons. Losing is one thing. Imploding like that is another story.

Not that bad but sure as hell looked worse. We really didn’t look like a DI team for most of 2nd half. Kicking balls out of bounds, passing balls out of bounds, shuffling feet, charging to the rim out of control, etc. 24 turnovers total and maybe 15-16 in 2nd half.

Losing this way wouldn’t be so bad if we hadn’t shown that we can play so much better and protect the ball.

We looked horrible to be sure, but the consequences will be insignificant compared to the NCSU loss in the Big Dance. This is just a ā€œgame over, move forwardā€ loss.

Was at baseball game so did not catch this one, but you cannot expect to win when you go on a scoring drought like the Niners did. Rough road trip for the Niners, hopefully coming back home will help sort things out.
However, cannot give up a 14pt lead under any circumstances. Oh well, onto the next one.

Following the game IMG inked a new sponsor for the men’s team Icy Hot because the team plays one way or the other each half.

Inking a deal with butterfingers and apple turnovers would be more appropriate. We actually shot at a high percentage whenever the players actually took shoots instead of trying our hardest to set a turnover record in a half.

Why is it that when we have an open 3 to tie as time is running out, we miss it and other teams seen to hit it vs us? :-\

We had a lot of ugly turnovers on our own but a few of the turnovers came from us getting hacked and the refs not calling fouls. Very one sided officiating today.

Because when we shoot the last second 3, our guy is 3 ft behind the 3 point line and has hands in the face. When other teams shoot, they are given a pretty clean look.

We shot 50% (6-12) from 3pt. That’s awesome. Our issue was getting to the point in an offensive position to take an attempt.

I wonder what was said in the locker room after a half like that.

Considering the turnover of the roster and so many freshmen, this team has been exceptional at limiting their turnovers. But not today. The turnover # for today is what I expected all season.

Several of those were very questionable and turned out to be key to the outcome.

I was watching the game on Fox College Sports, and the commentator stated that ā€˜Uchebo has not been a factor in the second half’ insinuating that WKU have managed to shut him down. In response, I was screaming at the TV (an inanimate object, I know that now) that ā€˜he can’t get his hands on the ball!’ This is usually the time of year that my wife develops a look of trepidation. Yes, our turnovers were atrocious but the officiating (travelling calls included) seems to be a bit lopsided during this game.

We had a successful stretch in the first half where Uchebo and Benas were on the floor. We essential plugged up the lanes down low and were rebounding just about every missed shot off the glass. I’d like to see those two together more in the line up. I realize we can’t play them together the majority of the game and guys need rest but we should make the most of what size we have.

May see them more together in the tourney. Do or die, ya know.
