Lost in all the craziness this week is the opening round of the tonight’s women’s NIT in Halton. I know it’s a big night of televised basketball, but if your teams are not playing in the early game, why not attend the game?
7:00 Gardner-Webb (28-4) vs Charlotte (17-13)
$6.00 adults, $3.00 youth, the first 200 Charlotte 49ers students with a student ID are admitted free and after that admission for Charlotte 49ers students is $4.
I’m hoping it will be a bit of stress relief for me.
Gardner-Webb is paying for their student tickets so there should be a decent away crowd.
We won 74-60 in case anyone gives a s4!7.

apparently Wake lost so the 2nd round game is at Halton on Sunday vs. NC A&T.
i just don’t understand why fans of CHARLOTTE wouldn’t turn out. i get it that casual men’s basketball fans wouldn’t drive from mallard creek to belk gym to watch. but ninernation fans should be all over this!
Turnout tonight was pathetic. Girls deserve much better on Sunday. BTW, A&T didn’t just beat Wake, they beat them in Winston Salem by something in excess of 20 points.

I wanted 2 go, but I’m not the 1 who scheduled it during tourney games. I would have been free about 11:45. That’s on whoever did the schedule.
Oh, & A&T showed our girls up last year at our place. I hope our girls teach them a lesson. And again I’d love to go, but NCAA Tourney is more important.

I have it from a reliable source that UConn was glad we didn’t win our Conf. Tourney because they’re scared of the Lady Niners!

Can’t give two hours out of your night to show these girls who put in the same amount of work and effort (probably more effort) as the guys that you’re behind them? Hmm…I don’t understand this view. They deserve it too.

I was disappointed in the crowd but I know people wanted to watch TV. Karen was hoping for a larger crowd as well. Funny that some would stay away to watch that when 10 members of the men’s team were there for the entire game.

Would you mind listing who you saw? I imagine if you care enough to go to the women’s game, you’re pretty happy at Charlotte…
Don’t know that I would go that far, eason. I’ll list the ones I didn’t see and their mention doesn’t mean one thing due to who they are… Andersen, Dewhurst, Spears. What I do see is that they chose to be a 49er fan instead of watching a 7 pm NCAA game.
I also saw two former Niner men’s greats in attendance.
Maybe its just me or maybe i just love basketball but over the 4 years ive worked with the girls team they have never had the chance to play in front of a big crowd at home. I talk to all the girls on a daily basis and that is one thing they wish they had here at Charlotte. Hell they won the A10 last year and now more alumni come out then students… there the only basketball team here to make it 2 post season 2 years in a row and still no one will make time… Dont do it for me or this post do it fro the seniors who have given this program and community everything. I understand its women basketball but its our town our team. the girls were crazy excited after the game to get revenge on A & T. So NINER NATION please get up and support your team on Sunday. The dang baseball team has more fans and that’s crazy.

But I was at the game and was disappointed with the Charlotte turnout.
The fact that we’re even having this conversation is ridiculous. This team is part of the Niner family too and they deserve our support. Coach Aston is a hell of a coach and genuinely cares about this institution just like the rest of the girls. Just give them a shot for goodness sakes. No excuse for students not showing up.
