We are back home this weekend and looking forward to a great crowd as we continue the push to repeat as A10 Champs.
One thing I have been wondering about is attendance and I am hoping perhaps some of you might have some suggestions. Our attendance has dropped a little since last year. I had hoped after winning the championship last year we might see an increase this year but it has just not happened.
Any ideas? We are really involved in the community getting local soccer clubs to come to the game and have soccer club “xyz” etc. nights all the time.
Our attendance is still top 50 in the country, but of course I want to see if we can be top 20 or even higher so any ideas are appreciated.
By the way … our home crowd makes a HUGE difference in our success. Home record since August 29th, 2005 is 17-2-3!
We really appreciate the cheering and the team mentions every game what a difference the fans make … so a huge thanks to all of you that come and any ideas any of you might have!
I’m not sure whether this is controllable as far as scheduling goes, but I know I can’t make it to a lot of the games because I have Panthers season tickets…and it seems that this year more than half the home games are Sunday @ 1 pm…maybe if it’s in your power the Sunday games could be better scheduled for at least the weekends the panthers have away games, or later in the day…I’m not sure.

It'll be hard for any sport to compete with football. I'm impressed we're top 50 in attendance.

Coach,
Is there anyway you could bring in portable bleachers on the track (obviously without messing up the track) for a student section?
The track KILLS the close field atmosphere that is essential at soccer games.
Then just have the bench on the other side of the field where the scoreboard is.
Just an idea to boost the atmosphere.

I’d agree with this. I remember back in the Gang Green days (second wave of GG – 2004 or so), they would let us just stand on the track for a couple of games. Yeah we had to stand the whole game, but it was fun being so close.
At the old soccer fields, one of the best parts was having the people so close to the action. I think temporary bleachers on the track would be a great student section … but I wonder if there’s concern about harming the track’s surface?

linda bruno is the A10 commissioner. so you might want to tell HER she is fired. She’s pathetic everyone in the world knows this besides herself. It is nothing new.
Agreed about the environment … I think the marketing and game management staff do an amazing job with what we have. What we have is a fantastic stadium (follow the team on the road some and you will see how special we have it here) but the track does remove the fans.
Please keep sending ideas. Marketing dept. has really been pushing on this end and we are in the community … just always like to hear what others think and any possible ideas. If we have such a big home field advantage now I can only imagine what it would be like if we had even more fans!
