Qatar is pretty much in the middle of everything for rest of the world. So I don’t see the location being that big of a deal. It’s kind of similar as to why Dubai has grown so fast, etc.
As far as the alcohol laws: Public drunkenness, openly displaying alcohol in public are forbidden. That’s pretty much the same in most US cities not named Las Vegas or New Orleans. .
Still sucks they got it over the US though.
