wow, heres a doozy

at the alumni hall of fame banquet recently, the religious studies professor that has been at UNCC forever made a speech about how we don’t need football or a name change and he got applauded!

What out of touch people…completely out of touch with freakin reality.

I bet there is close to $10 mil and 10,000 donors waiting on the sidelines for football to pop.
I know I have my $1000 check pinned to my wall and cleared with the wife.

That’s because he and the others are administration A$$-Kissers, and they know what the administration is against and what the administration is for…

That’s why they were allowed or ā€œvotedā€ to be there in the first place. By playing nicely with the boss.

I am canceling my yearly donation to the Religious Studies Department…

What is the professors name?

This is not suprising…I would imagine a large chunck of professors would rather see the money spent on education.

As a religious studies major I would LOVE to know what professor that was!

I’m assuming Tabor. I’m not a very big fan of him as it is…

When you find out, you and all of your fellow classmates should not sign up for any of his classes… boycott him!!

You could put comments to that effect in RateYourProfessor.com

Fixed.

boycotting a prof wont do much good.

besides, if he is good at what he does, you could probably gain a lot from his class.

Well I am not in school now… graduated with Religious Studies a few years back.

If it is tabor…it has nothing to do with ass kissing…not unless he has changed since he became chair of the dept

Tabor is anything but an ass kisser

It’s possible that he simply thinks it would be disadvanageous for the university to get football or a name change. There are certainly plenty of people, old and young, with this opinion. I can’t imagine that it would be worth boycotting him or even disliking over that sort of thing. It’s not always a kiss-up thing or a being out of touch thing. Some people just don’t think there should be football here or that we should change our name. It’s not like that position is EVIL or anything. I happen to like the sound of ā€œUNCC.ā€

I don’t mind the name UNC-Charlotte, I just hate the abbreviation UNCC because the CC makes it look like a community college.

But the thing that get’s under my skin is the way that this professor made their opinion public. I wasn’t there, but you have to stretch to make those two things relevant in that situation. Same reason I hate celebs using their spotlight to speak against something/someone. No difference. Sure I’m jealous that we have trouble getting that kind of stage, but I really don’t think this professor has their current job because of where they stand on these two topics. And that is my point.

speaking of Professors, does anyone know what Professor Connaughton charges for Economic Impact Studies? I think the Football movement needs to get him to do a study about the ā€œEconomic Impact of D1 Football in Charlotteā€ to help sell this thing better.

I seem to remember someone on here saying they were going to try to get permission to do such a study for a class or something. Good idea though!

Yes, I’m sure he charges. I’m proposing this as my masters thesis topic when I meet with my advisor next semester.

If you get to do that, be sure to post it here if you can. I’m sure you can get alot of feedback here anyway.

I thought it was you, but I wasn’t positive…
