NBA…

Its about time someone give us credit around here
BP will got to Europe and make lots of dough.
Plavich will be in europe, the NBA isn’t even a team game, it’s all one on one, and shooting ability, thats about concern #112 to an NBA team. Most athletes in europe won’t be better than plavich, and he might actually get a screen set for him.
Lutz said on his radio show that Plav may consider starting his coaching career after college. He said he’s getting married soon and may not want to go overseas. It’s something he would have to weigh his options. I imagine he will be an assistant at Charlotte sometime in the future.
Who are the Plavich Haters?

Question: How do Travis Deiner and JJ Reddick get open for their 3-shots? Are they that much quicker than BP? Do their teams set them up better? I don’t think they are better shooters, are they? I need a breakdown from our detail analysists on the board here. Thanks!

For Reddick, his height helps him a lot (6’4"). He’s got 2" over Plav, which allows him to shoot over taller players easier. He can also drive to the bucket. That threat keeps the defender on their heels moreso than Brendan can since he is not much of a threat to do this.
Diener gets open mostly off the dribble. He, of course, is a point guard and handles the ball really well. The fact that he does allows him to get open with the stop-start, and he is also a threat to drive. He dishes most of the time once he gets by his defender, but you still can’t overplay him with that threat.
Brendan is mostly a one-trick pony. Most people on the board use that to criticize him, but he opens up the inside tremendously, even moreso when he’s hot. The 2-guard can’t double-down on defense against us or they get torched. Sure, it would help Brendan and the team if he was taller or could drive, but his shooting ability is second to few.
Much has been mentioned about our inability to set picks. We do need some work on this, but for the most part we set legal picks. Other teams, by design, do not always set legal picks. There are tricks to not getting caught, but if the referees are calling the game correctly it’s very difficult to get free off of a single “legal” screen when you have an Eddie Basden or Mitchell Baldwin caliber player guarding you. St. Louis set at least 15+ illegal screens in their game with us, but only 2 were called. If you can get away with it, then most coaches philosophy is “go ahead and do it”. I haven’t payed much attention to Duke to know how well they screen. Marquette’s offense resembles SLU’s, but they don’t run the clock down as far each possession before attempting a shot. Diener gets open more off his ball-handling than he does off of screens.
I don’t consider JJ as their go to guy. If you don’t control She Will inside he will kill you and we don’t have a inside force to pull attention off of Plav. He can shoot lights out, but most the time he is forced to create and shoot and thats not his strength. He has done a better job with shot selection this year. If it isn’t there he puts it in his pocket.
What I do love about Plavich is that he has the ability to take over a game with his shooting. Of course those who are less then fond of Plavich will say he has the ability to totally knock us out of a game.
“NBA Live”

That’s great!
Check him out on the ESPN game too. He hit 11 three’s one time in a game I simulated but didn’t play.
