You're No. 23

Not much respect for DePaul… 45 votes good enough for 30th. Most sites have them with a slightly higher RPI than us.

Sorry Mike, do not understand....what does that mean?

I can’t believe we haven’t been ranked since before I graduated.

This better get some butts in the seats - if I wasn’t working this week, I’d fancy a drive up. C’mon Niners, kick some Blue Demon ass!

I hope we get fans in the seats!!

SWEET! Here is another poll which has both us and Depaul:

TSN Power Poll

More love in the headlines…

SI.com: Charlotte cracks Top 25

All aboard the niner bandwagon…I got a feeling we will have no trouble filling up the seats.

As long as it took us to get back in we could be out quick … need to win two this week to keep the momentum going !! GO Niners !!!

Hold on a second guys. What’s with all the ā€œbandwagonā€ talk? You think people are going to all of a sudden see us at #23 instead of #27 and jump on us? I mean, I don’t even think we’ll really have a larger attendance based on the ranking. I mean, I would love to see the place sold out, but I just don’t think it’s gonna happen.

Yes, unfortunatly seeing a # beside Charlotte makes the world of difference to most of the know nothing basketball fans that attend this school. Heck when I was in line this morning getting tickets the girl behind me was like ā€œUH I guess I should go to a game before I graduateā€ I wanted to turn around and smack her. Even some of the guys in my classes were interested in the game wed after I told them we were top 25. Sad but true.

I'd say that has more to do with Cincy's fall than anything else. If DePaul beats us Wednesday (YIKES!) and Marquette on Saturday, then the Blue Demons would probably be in the Top 25 next week.

Being in the top 25 makes a monstrous difference to anyone who is 1) not a basketball guru, or 2) a steady fan of the program to begin with. Example DePaul. They are a good/solid team, but outside of their fans, and the real bball gurus, who would know?? Which is all the more reason we need to show up and whoop up on them Wednesday. Cause in the end if we lose (which I don't think will happen), the only thing people will remember is Charlotte was 23 at the time, and Depaul was unranked (even if they were top30).

So true. Afterall, it is the TOP 25, not the Top 30, etc.

Exactly, this will probably lead to higher attendance, although I am not sure about a sellout.

I know it's stupid, but most of my friends always asked me "What are we ranked?" whenever I asked them to a game or talked to them about the team. If we weren't, they'd usually give me the  and then decide to do something else.

This town loves a winner (compare Panthers post-Super Bowl attendance to pre-Super Bowl attendance) - we’re ranked, we’ll get a bit more pub and we get more of a buzz around town. I guarantee the crowd is big for Wed night. I can tell just from the activity on this board.

Earlier this season I said that polls don’t matter, they’re BS, etc… And I still think so. However, I see some value in them since I can now say ā€œcheck out Charlotte, we’re ranked.ā€ Whoever I had that conversation with, I see your point.

Go Niners!
