Will this be the first year that we do not have an early signee?
Why are you worrying about this now? The early signing period doesn’t begin until November 11.
It is only 2 1/2 weeks away. I was just making a statement that this may be the first year that we do not have an early signee. I know we could pull one out at the last minute, but usually we have more knowledge that someone is getting close to a commitment.
Remember we have a talented transfer guard ready to go next year. Since the coaches arent suppose to talk about recruiting and since they arent lets just wait and see. We have an excellent core group, i feel confident they want to add the best player, and hopefully that will happen.
If we dont sign someone this fall, but have a successful season it only positions us to land a better player in the spring from those still available, and there are usually several tallented players remamining. Plus we will then have a better idea of how the juco talent lines up…
Too much worry, enjoy the season…
Yes, no need to worry yet. We have Briscoe here for next year already and we are looking to add a SF/SG and a frontcourt player.
Depth next year:
Green, Briscoe, Parks
Bowden, Briscoe, Green
Anjuan, Sirin, Dewhurst, Barnett
Spears, KJ, Braswell, Sirin, Barnett
Jones, Braswell
Dijuan, Ian, and Coleman are gone. That leaves Briscoe taking one scholarship, so we have two to give. Will a player that isn’t getting much pt going to transfer, Barnett? Not saying that I want him to transfer, but it’s a situation like Gabby last year. Maybe Barnett will take a big step forward this year, but the 3 and 4 are crowded.
What if Green, Briscoe, or Bowden gets hurt? We will be thin in the backcourt if that happens unless Parks can do the business.
I think the coaches are concentrating on a SF/SG and a low post player.
Will be interesting to see how things pan out because if we can get two or three more impact players, we will be set for a long time.

Dewhurst > Sirin
Will be interesting to see how many of the 25+ commits to the A-10 sign in November. Right now, only Charlotte, Bona, and GW have no 4-year (high school/prep) commits, though the Niners and Bonnies both have transfers coming in.

That is why we OWN this conference!!!

We have missed out on our 2 main targets to ND and Purdue. At most we will only sign 1 player during the early period and then hold a scolley for the Spring.
As others have posted, we are pretty loaded for next yr so we are being very picky.

Great to finally be able to do this. The year of Booker, 2 Williams, and Coleman was tough to swallow.
I do not think you sit back and think we are “loaded” next year with Blesue and what we have coming back. You need to remember that 2011 we will lose 5 players. You need to have players in the system early so they can learn without having to count on them for major minutes. We do not get the top-50 recruits that are ready to play big time basketball. You need to work the high school players now so you cna have them ready in 2012 for playing time.
