09-10 Non-Conference
i dont understand why anyone would want to schedule app. state. they are good enough that they can beat us on occasion and not good enough that if we beat them that we gain any credit for it. i would rather schedule an elon, nc a&t or usc-upstate as local games. particularly early in with all the new guys we will be breaking in we will need a few games to get the guys to gel together.
QFT!

Don't mind me, I'm just having a bad day. Sorry. It was meant to get a chuckle out of guys like Run49er.

No problem.

And it did!

Of course, as usual

I am going to bring it up b/c it use to be a good home/home, Indiana? I know Creen is the coach and a former rival coach in CUSA. Did him and Bobby have a good relationship? After all Indiana is pretty horrible right now, shouldn’t be too big of a problem for them.

Once “The Savior” leaves Exit 30 after this season, playing the Goosekillers will be the equivalent of playing App. State. They will occasionally be good enough to beat you, but beating them will do nothing for you. They’ll go back to playing three or four Non-D1 schools each season that will kill their RPI, as well as ours.

La Salle's Tom Gola Arena hosted Florida State Duquesne's campus hosted West Virginia St. Bonaventure's campus hosted Mississippi State and so on.

I wouldn’t be too quick to sell Halton Arena short.

Yep… And…

Some of the teams the Niners have hosted as NON-CONFERENCE Opponents in Halton:

Indiana
Alabama
Miami (Big East at time)
Tennessee
USC
Colorado
Mississippi State (ughh)
Temple (non-conference at time when Cheyney was still coach)

As for my preference… I say SCHEDULE OREGON, AND EVEN ALLOW THEM TO BRING THEIR CHEERLEADERS !!! :shades::shades::shades:

Over, so the youngsters know…that USC was South Carolina and we blew them out by nearly 30 points. AND, that came either just before or just after blowing out a pretty decent Miami (pre-ACC days) Hurricanes team by 20+, if memory serves…u might want to add Miami to that list…Also, Tennessee took a beat down to the Niners in Halton back in the late 90s.

I knew you’d come through. Thanks.

I heard a rumor from a guy in one of my classes – I don’t believe it, but I guess it’s somewhat possible.

Charlotte will play @ Duke next season.

It’s possible since both teams are to be in the Pre-season NIT. I don’t know that Duke would buy a game with the 49ers, but maybe…

Regardless, a Charlotte at Duke game means nothing to us. The only tickets available would be the team comps and any leftovers would go to the biggest donors/suits.

Not if it’s an NIT game… the school won’t handle tickets if that’s the case… correct?

There wouldn’t be tickets available, lew. You have to donate $5000 minimum to the Iron Dukes just to get on a list for possible season tickets. They have no public tickets for sale, unless the students do not pick theirs up because they are on break. The only option is through brokers or hoping to scalp outside of Cameron.

But why get excited until there is some truth to this?

Season tickets don’t get you into PNIT games. You have to buy them through the promotor of the PNIT, therefore we have a chance.

It would be handled the same way, Duke folks would get their regular seats if they pay for the PNIT package. You might have a handful available but those fans are not your “typical average fans.”

The average fan doesn’t know how hard it is to get Duke tickets…

From what I gather, Crean and Bobby do not have a good relationship since the former said that he would not schedule the Niners after MU went to the Big East and the Niners to the A-10. Of course, I’ve gotten the impression that Bobby pretty much didn’t have any good relationships with his former colleagues in Conference USA since the only C-USA team (current or former) we’ve played since being “shown the door” is Tulsa (with the exception of tourney matchups against Cincy in the 2006 NIT and Houston in Hawai’i in December, 2006).

Maybe it’s better for us that way. He and Huggins were great friends and that didn’t end well…

who does Bobby have a good relationship with in the coaching fraternity? A10 or otherwise.

I’ve heard him speak somewhat highly of Dr Giannini at LaSalle, but thats about it?

Um, Curry has one more year. He is only a junior this year

Speaking of taking over Davidson’s arena… has there ever been an instance where there were enough opposing fans and the opponent rushed the court after a win on the road? That would be an awesome first, and none of you better call it classless, it’d make ESPN for sure.

Actually, non-D1 isn’t factored into the RPI, so it can’t be a killer.

He may have been referring to the chance of him leaving for the NBA after this year.
