Sirin has to play some SF. Spears, Braswell, and Sherrill create a small log jam at PF. They will have to split that time with C, though.I would guess Sirin could split at SF and PF, while Barnett can split at SG and SF.
Does the following look correct?
PG: Harris, Green, Coleman
SG: Bowden, Ian, Coleman, Barnett
SF: Wilderness, Dewhurst, Sherill, Barnett, Sirin
PF: Spears, Braswell, Sherill, Sirin
C: Jones, Spears, BraswellI just hope Jones is in shape, b/c he needs to pull minutes with a shortage of tall people on the team. PF is stacked, though.
Jones will be in shape. He and Spears both looked like they were shedding the bad kind of pounds and gaining the good kind over the last month of school, considering I saw them nearly every day going to and from classes. Iām sure they will keep that up.

Iām thinking for the 80 minutes of the C and PF positions that we are looking at 32 for Spears, 28 for Braswell, and 20 for Jones. If Phil can lower his fouls per minute, then maybe, his numbers will increase. Either way you look at it, those minutes will be much better used than last year, well hopefully!
I also agree that Green will get some minutes for sure. However, I love Colemanās athleticism, and we know Ian will get some as well. That to me is the real wild card out of all of this. We need speed and shooting both! Hopefully they will make the right calls on that one!
I think we still have a shortage of consistent offense, this really hurt us last year, we just could not score as much as many of the teams we were playing last year. Spears, alone, probably does not solve the issue. So this has got to be a concern going into next year, I think that is why the staff made the run for the high scoring Juco 2G/SF who signed at UAB.

Some balance would be nice. I think we have enough weapons that defenses have to respect the perimeter and paint.
I would love for someone to come along who could work the post like Demarco Johnson. The guy was limited athletically but so savvy with the ball.
And I truly think Bowden is going to be a force with his jumper. He should play like a sophmore.

We only lost an average of ~21-22 ppg from last yearās team (Mack and Coley). If Spears, Braswell, Bowden, Green, Sirin, Dewhurst, Sherrill, etc. canāt make up for that then we are in deep doodoo.

lets hope the efficiency is what helps, Mack shooting 10% from the field the first 10 games killed us
I bet Bobby is gonna try to run like hell with this team, we should be deep and athletic. 10 guys in the rotation

Sadly, thatās probably not far off.
Starters: Wilderness & JonesIād be surprised if either player is not in the starting lineup on opening day. A big key to Charlotteās success next year is for one or both of these players to meet the expectations of them as upperclassmen.
Thatās the ballgame, folks. If this doesnāt happen, itāll be a long season.
Bowden is the key in my opinion. If he can cause teams to respect him from the perimeter, than that opens up a whole number of offensive weapons.I know he was our leading scorer on the Canada trip, but heās yet to be healthy enough to show it vs. D-1 competition. We really, other than our wishes,do not have any proven outside threats and if teams can pack it in vs. Spears Braswell and Phil that will really hurt us.

Harris, Bowden, Wilderness, Spears, Braswell should be the main 5.
Just donāt see Jones ever being much of a force and I hope Iām wrong. He may start, but if he plays the majority of the minutes Iāll be surprised. Needs some fire in his ass and I donāt know that you can teach that.
Iām interested to see the new PG guys, hope they are as good as billed.
Hope Dew comes back and doesnāt play timid after the injury- I really like what he brings.
Hope Sherrill looks good and gets some solid PT.
Hope Andersen adapts to a come off the bench and shoot role.
Hope Barnett surprises me and becomes a threat of the bench.
Sirin is a wildcard- donāt know quite what to make of him yet. I think I still have Matas and Phaler in my head.
I am cautiously optimistic- we should be upgraded at EVERY position.
Looks like Lutz is tired of getting his ass handed to him, 'bout time.

Well I think the challenge is clear, two years ago we had two scorers Goldwire/Mack and we managed to win some games with their offense and some improved defense. Last year with just one scorer, Mack, we really had a problem scoring even with good defense you need to score and we did struggle with rebounding. It is really not much different than the nba playoff games, in the 2nd half of a close game you have got to be able to go to someone who can score, when you need a basket on a consistent basis. That really did not exist last year.
So the challenge is, is there two scorers who we can take advantage of this year ? I think people are saying Spears, yes, so that is good, but is that enough. Again, the team may be deep, but that does not really really translate into consistent scoring especially in the last 10 minutes of a game, two nights a week.

Mack killed our offense by always forcing it. Thereās no doubt he was our best offensive player and he put up some points but teams keyed on him b/c of lack of scoring everywhere else on the floor, YET he still forced it driving too deep or bad threes.
This team will have more guys who can score the ball inside and out: Spears, Bowden, Braswell, Green as guys who will see significant minutes and can score. Problem is they have not played together. I just hope we see them share the ball better.
The coaching staff has high hopes for Bowden, no doubt about it. And everyone is high on Spears and what he can do in the A-10. He is legit inside-outside threat. We know what Dijuan can do.

5 lines too tough for you to read? If so iāll do without the honor of your readā¦alas!
Still think there is too much hope right now for Sherrillā¦Lutz has already stated that he is very athletic, but very raw. I think a less athletic Charlie Coley.
Would be great if he can contribute, but Iām not sure how far in front of Barnett he really is.
Will be interesting to see how Barnett will progress from freshman year to this year.
I still think itās
Harris/ Green
Bowden/Ian/Green
Wilderness/Coleman/Barnett
Spears/Barnett/Sherrill/Sirin
Jones/Braswell/Sirin
But, one thing is for sure, we will have A LOT more options and Lutz can play with the line-up.

you forgot about parks.
⦠and Chuck Dewberry
I donāt see Sirin ever playing Center. I think weād stick Sherrill there before Sirin.

Dewhurst lacked confidence before the injury, and now with a BIG TIME injury, I just donāt see itā¦hopefully, Iām wrong, but itās going to be tough.
Yeah Sirin is going to be interestingā¦can shoot lights out, but is a legit 6ā 9". Tough to tell how Sirin will adjust to college.
With Parksā¦he will see how it goes in the summer and fall and decide to red-shirt or not. So not holding too much promise there. But, will be a serviceable back-up.
I think the biggest thing is the two and fourā¦if Bowden can come in and be an impact, and if we can find someone to effectively give Spears some time then weāll be legit.
