Question: Is anyone going to update the 2009-10 recruiting assessment to reflect the up-to-date recruiting news?!
This is what Iād expect for the starting line-up at the beginning of the season:
PG - Harris
SG - Bowden
SF - Wilderness
PF - Spears
C - Jones
As far as Bowden being healthy, I lived down the hall from him until the end of the school year, one of the last days there he was running down the hall goofing of with his roommate. Heās healthy.
Depth Chart IMO:
PG - Harris/Green/Parks/Church
SG - Bowden/Andersen/Coleman/Barnett/Pride
SF - Wilderness/Dewhurst
PF - Spears/Braswell/Sherril/Sirin
C - Jones
Coleman will definitely see more minutes at SF until Dewhurst returns to full health. If Green can shoot it, heāll work into the SG rotation either before or after Andersen. From the videos I have seen of Braswell, he could see time at the 5. I donāt see Barnett getting many minutes at all. Sirin will likely take the few he had last season. If Sirin shoots up to his hype, heāll get playing time somewhere. But as far as a preseason depth chart, thatās how I see it.

You guys think Sirin will play more as a SF?

Who is this Anderson guy?!
So Bowden definitely will be starting?
Not quite a depth chart ⦠but this is what Iām thinking (essentially the same thing as most depth charts Iām seeing):
Team Leaders: Harris & Spears
Theyāll get the lionās share of minutes. I considered adding a third player (Wilderness?) but will stick with the returning all-conference selection & the highly touted transfer as my picks.
Starters: Wilderness & Jones
Iād be surprised if either player is not in the starting lineup on opening day. A big key to Charlotteās success next year is for one or both of these players to meet the expectations of them as upperclassmen.
Blue chips: Bowden & Braswell
The two most likely freshmen to eventually break into the starting lineup and both should have plenty of opportunity for minutes.
Rotation Players: Andersen, Coleman, & Dewhurst
College vets with plenty of combined starts/experience. Hopefully, Dewhurst will be healthy after the injury.
Bench: Green, Sherrill, Sirin, & Barnett
Low on experience but high on promise.
Practice: Parks, Church, & Pride
Outside-the-limelight players. Parks could use this opportunity to elevate himself onto the bench or higher.

Good assesment, but I think you need to move Green up to rotation, we got him to be a back up point so heās pretty much guaranteed 10-15 minutes per game regardless of how good he is.

Sirin has to play some SF. Spears, Braswell, and Sherrill create a small log jam at PF. They will have to split that time with C, though.
I would guess Sirin could split at SF and PF, while Barnett can split at SG and SF.
Does the following look correct?
PG: Harris, Green, Coleman
SG: Bowden, Ian, Coleman, Barnett
SF: Wilderness, Dewhurst, Sherill, Barnett, Sirin
PF: Spears, Braswell, Sherill, Sirin
C: Jones, Spears, Braswell
I just hope Jones is in shape, b/c he needs to pull minutes with a shortage of tall people on the team. PF is stacked, though.
Braswell will see 90% of his playing time at C, and Spears will probably see 99% of his pt at pf.
Braswell was listed as a pf on all the recruiting sites, but he played center all through high school, is 6ā9, and doesnāt have a jumpshot.
Spears is a beast, but at 6ā6, is much better suited to play the four.
So Bowden definitely will be starting? Not necessarily. But we all hope so.
Not necessarily. But we all hope so.
If he doesnāt start, I hope it is b/c Coleman is unstoppable. Can always hope that the wrist injury killed his shot, and with it fully healed, he will drain 3ās with ease. ![]()

Coleman is so good at driving when he wants to do it, if he had a reliable 3 point shot he would be deadly.

Coleman will take over Coleyās ally oops. Well, some of them.
Coleman will take over Coley's ally oops. Well, some of them.
Damn that makes me sad. Def. going to miss Coley.
It seems that if Green can score, and he is really the guy the staff wanted, I would speculate he starts. We have to remember scoring was a real problem last year, so those that can score effectively will be playing.
Harris
Green
Wilderness
Spears
Braswell
With
Bowden and Jones off the bench and in the rotation.
In terms of the rest, one will have to emerge as an effective scorer; such as Coleman.
we should all assume 1 of our freshmen PFās is gonna get redshirted, I think it will be Sirin or Sherrill and Iām leaning towards Sirin since heād also be in the SF rotation. There just wonāt be enough minutes for one of them to justiy losing a year of eligibility. I just hope we stay healthy enough to redshirt someone.
i think it would be sherrill since sirin gives us more of a shooting threat.
