2009 NBA Draft

It’s almost that time and we are on the clock.

Who’s it going to be? Gerald Henderson or Terrence Williams? Or a big in Dijuan Blair? Or a wild card? Or trade up and get James Harden or Steph Curry?
Or…
Trade for a proven vet such as…Ray Allen (a Jordan guy), Tracy McGrady, Ron Artest, Dalembart or sign AI?

Three days away and so much can happen. Let the banter…BEGIN!

I’d take Ron Artest over all the rest. However, seeing AI play for the Bobcats would be interesting.

I would have taken McGrady but he seems injury proned. I sit in the upper level usually so I won’t have to worry about Artest.

Nooooo to curry. I’m sure he’ll be a fine player somewhere, but we don’t really need him as badly as we need a big guy.

Mack and Coley.

Withers and Basden
fixed . . . . Mack and Coley still need a couple years I think.

none of the big guys in the draft will develop…at least for years to come. if we go big we should try to go out and get kaman from LAC. big man that can run the floor, play D, and knock down a 15 footer.

not a fan of G Henderson. small and even though a guy named MJ didnt have a great shot in college…this guy aint no mike. T Will has a lot more potential with his size and ability.

or we could go big now and wait a couple years to get Shamarr to play the 2!

I would say no to the vets as they are all starting to age. If anything trade up for Harden and for the love of God, if you trade down make sure it involves getting rid of Mohammed contract. I also found this interesting:

i heard a rumor that the bobcats might trade the pick for samuel dalembert. i would love to see that. we need a true center and he is a good one and we could okafor back to power forward.

i heard that while also signing AI. LB wants to bring back the philly glory day(s) he once had. AI will be happy because nobody else will want to shoot and lB gets his guy. regardless of if they clashed years ago…they made each other great…and i think they know that.

I personally think Charlotte is too small for Iverson, his off the court lifestyle would be too much in the spot light and could potentially draw negative attention.

i might be wrong…but wasnt he in town for a concert and partying earlier this year?

back to the draft…and i know you guys hate this…but what about danny green with one of our second round picks? defensive guy who can knock down a shot. could be a good role guy in a system he knows…

Ai has hosted parties in Charlotte the last two times he came.

You don’t want Dalembert (trust me) not worth your time:
-He’s got an inflated contract
-Has no post moves
-All he can do is “kinda” rebound and block shots.

The Sixers are having trouble trying to trade him (it was a story I heard before I came down for summer class.)

On point with that one…he is a younger version of Nazr Mohammed.

I still think they should trade this year’s 12th pick and their last 2nd round pick for a lower level team’s 1st rd. pick next year (hopefully being higher in the lottery for next year). The talent pool is supposedly deeper next year than this year, and I just do not see anyone who is whole heartedly worth the pick.

Henderson is a fine athlete, can drive, and can play D, but can disappear and his range pretty much ends at the college three.

Williams is just streaky and if you’re going to be that hit or miss in college, I’d hate to see how consistent you will not be at the next level. He plays great D and is another fine athlete, but offensively lacking on a team that needs it.

Drafting a big at their current spot is just not good. All the big’s who have any well rounded offensive game will be gone by the time they pick.

Getting an AI on this team would make it implode.

Dalembert is a head case. He would be worse for this team than AI.

With Williams vs. Henderson, I would go with Williams, who IMO has more upside than Henderson.

He’s not a headcase … he’s just not that good.
-A headcase is someone who lets their own mind get the better of them and their own talent (TO, Chad Johnson, Ron Artest, etc…) Dalembert is not that kind of player
-Dude I’ve seen how good Allen Iverson can be with Larry Brown coaching him. I’d like to see it happen again.

If Henderson is there then I would take him, if not then I believe Larry Brown will draft Terrence Williams.

So what you’re saying is he is the exact type of player an MJ/LB-led franchise will bring in?

I’m guessing they’ll deal the pick for a vetern, that seems to be Brown’s style. If they hold the pick, I think it’s Henderson if he is available, he’d be a good guy to learn from Bell. If Henderson isn’t there, I would hope they would go for size. Diaw played pretty well down the stretch, but there’s no depth, Blair wouldn’t be a bad pick. I doubt it would happen, but picking Mullens wouldn’t be the worst thing they could do, but Brown doesn’t seem interested in building for 3-5 years from now.
