Jamming the new Eminem (leaktacular!) right now.

He is on fire lyrically… the beats aren’t that great but DAMN he makes up for it by pwning the world. The man has a gift with words.

The diss on Kanye in “No Love” had me rolling yesterday.
Also, if you like completely baked 70s rock, check out Tame Impala:

And finally a Free Energy video:

http://pitchfork.com/tv/#/musicvideo/6841-free-energy-bang-pop-asterlworks-dfa
I came across that Tame Impala track on pitchfork as well. Did like.

Listening to Janelle Monae’s album. Caught me off-guard. I’m definitely enjoying it.

MGMT - It’s Working

edit - here’s the Fallon performance. It’s not spectacular, but it is live: http://www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/video/thursday-june-24-2010/1236008/?tin=1913&tout=2507

Another MGMT ode to drugs (ecstasy would be my guess), though the guitar sound is definitely surfer influenced - probably also intentional. I’ll admit, I listened to snippets of the new album and was totally uninterested (plus, they’re such douchebags). Then I saw them on Fallon the other night. Thought the song was okay then caught myself humming it ever since. I like how it builds. Really love the energy/vibe towards the end.

The video is pretty straightforward. Not much subtlety about the intent of the imagery, though it’s not quite as obnoxious as say Time To Pretend.

I’d give it about a week or two before it gets old.

I’m surprised Sleigh Bells is top 10 (but I haven’t even listened to it). They play in Chapel Hill tomorrow.

It’s been a fairly weak year so far. Arcade Fire will be near the top of that list by year’s end… wonder who else?

I think this year is better than last year already, and Arcade Fire, Panda Bear and Deerhunter are still to come (Deerhunter not confirmed I don’t think, but it should happen). I have big hopes for Arcade Fire, I’d love for them to release the album of the year.

New Deerhunter on September 28th. The last two things he’s put out have been pretty darn good.

Two new Panda Bear songs, I believe “Tomboy” is the album track and the other is the b-side.

This is my new favorite song.

So bad it’s awesome.

I know you frequently post stuff by these guys NA, here are a few videos of Delta Spirit, they look like live studio takes:

It’s mostly instrumentals with about four vocal songs… but the soundtrack from Red Dead Redemption (yes, a video game) is incredible.

The game isn’t so shabby, either.

(fucking gov’ment >:( )

Bushwick Blues sounds a lot like a commercial sellout and a re-imagining of something like The Notebook, as a song. Unfortunately, I actually like it. There goes my snob cred.

I’ve heard both. I may get it when it hits the discount bin.

This isn’t too bad - new album from Best Coast, which is due out next week I think.

They say its Surf Rock/Pop, but it sounds like noisier Neko Case to me.

Best Coast - Crazy For You (Full Album Stream)

Two listens through and I’ve gone from indifference to toe tapping on a few of the tracks. Not bad. It hink my favorites include I Wish You Were My Boyfriend and When I’m With You.
