2011 HS Football Thread

With our team kicking off in 2 years, we all now have a renewed interest in local HS football. Many of us have talked about going to local games as a group spreading the word of 49er football, and maybe seeing a future 49er in action.

I saw that the Observer has started it’s “Sweet 16” Countdown and thought it would be a good start to this thread. I don’t know who, if anyone we are recruiting on these teams, so if you have info feel free to add it.

I can not wait for Aug 19th. I’ve been going to a high school game in the area every Friday night for the past 10 years or so.

Week 1 may have the biggest game of the year - Butler @ Mallard Creek. Both will easily be ranked in the top 5 in 4A, maybe the top 2. Also, West Rowan travels to Mooresville the 1st Friday.

The best info on NC high school football can be found here - NCPreps.com. I stay mostly on the 3A board though cause that’s what my high school is.

Reaching out to get target info to come up with a good schedule. Unfortunately the limited info out there is all from this board.

Go hough huskies in the mean time.

Sun Valley’s schedule is absolutely ridiculous. They almost had Butler in Week 3 too.

Week 1 of HS Football around here is going to be crazy. Just off the top of my head -

Butler @ Mallard Creek
Crest @ Burns
West Rowan @ Mooresville
Sun Valley @ Richmond Co.

Those are some big time match-ups for the first week of the season.

I’m thinking that Mallard Creek- Butler might be the first stop on our HS Football tour. Who else is up for meeting out at this game? Do they allow tailgating at HS games?
