I remember him. Plays a mean flute! :
I even thought about it and still got it wrong. *Andersen
Are you talking about the guy that was sitting on the park bench?
I’m sure when Benny is shooting around by himself he probably doesn’t miss. However, you could go to the SAC on any given night when I was in school and find 10 guys that can do that. He moves at a snails pace, he has a slow release, he can only shoot when he is already squared to the basket, which are rare opportunities at the D1 level. He cant shoot when catching the ball with his back to the basket, he doesn’t shoot off the dribble, and he cant shoot off screens. Nobody on this years team played defense so by default he’s a liability on that end of the floor. Dee Tolliver and Chris Dwiggins were much better players than Benny and they are basically viewed as scrubs on our tourney teams.
. Extreme exageration here on most all counts.
Benny is good at what he does, shoot. His game is limited but he has legit size at 6’7 and shoots nearly 40%. I’ll take a guy like that every year.
Looking forward to Price teaching BO proper shooting form. That crooked side step thing has got to go. It’s not at ugly as MKG’s shot, but its close. Fix his shot and he’s a player that could show a ton of improvement.
Benny will never contribute consistently, even for this low talent squad. He’s just not a D1 athlete and never will be.
Yes, because no “shooters” have ever really helped any team.
There are 100 Division 1 players who shot 43% or better from behind the arc this year. Benny shot 37%, no list that I can find goes past the top 100, but I’m guessing his 37% puts him in the 400-500 range. So is he really a “shooter”? Couple that with the fact that he brings absolutely nothing else to the game. I stand by my statement.
Do you realize that EVEN if you are right and Benny is the 400th best shooter in the country that would mean he is approximately top 15% nationally from behind the arc.

Tolliver was a better player, but Chris Dwiggins was not even close to as good as Benk. Dwiggins wouldn’t have even been the best player in intramurals at that time.

Always wondered why Dee didn’t get more run. He was also a really good athlete.

I guess if you want to compare him to PF and C’s your estimate is accurate.
Benny is a fine shooter, but his skills isn’t good enough that he should be starting on a team that hopes to make the tournament. He’s a great guy to come off the bench though. most teams benefit from a guy like Benny. I’m glad he’s sticking around.

That 37% from 3 point range equates to 55.5% from 2 point range. If we had shot 37% from 3 and 55.5% from 2 every game, my guess is we would have won quite a few more games.
I think our new coaching staff may be able to help his shot a little, along with helping with the other parts of his game.

Agree, I expected more… And he usually provides it. Missed opportunity to add to what it looks like he had already written with an update… Or at least to say more to come on an evolving story.
Based on a few retweets by Ross it sounds like we are after Izundu again.
