Why is MTSU so bad?
MT woes a combination of things:
Coach and player turnover (11 players on 2018 C-USA regular season championship team no longer at MT);
2018 recruiting class falling apart with Kermit Davis leaving for Ole Miss;
and an OOC sked deemed one of the most difficult this season (NET# as of 1-1-19) - #59 Belmont, #3 UVa, #48 Butler, #108 Stanford, #39 Lipscomb, #42 Vandy, #51 Murray State, #50 Toledo, #43 Ole Miss, and #103 URI - all losses by double digits.
Charlotte is arguably the worst team in the conference. #thanksjudy

Winning shot for UTEP vs Rice. Great D there, Owls!
Players of the week (1-14-19):
Jhivvan Jackson, SO 6-0 G, UTSA - POTW
Nigel Hawkins, FR 6-4 G, UTEP - FOTW
No way he got that off in .5 seconds.
Hawthorne, you could be right about that.
Apparently this happened just before the other clip at .5. The .5 shot should have never happened. Clock started later here.
Can an inquiry overturn the game result or does it just mean, “hey refs, you screwed up, do better”?
Most likely the latter and that seems to be Rice’s intent per the KVIA report. Suppose the crew could be suspended also if C-USA determined they were wrong.
Wonder if UTEP’s Hawkins would have been named freshman of the week if the Miners had lost.
FWIW, I don’t agree with Gottlieb that the clock should have expired on the deflection that set up the final play. Now, being able to catch a cross court heave and then spin and shoot in half a second is another thing!
