2019-20 MBB Opponents and Schedule

I think it was 8 but I agree, this team has a lot to prove. The exhibition against uga should be interesting. They have a projected top 5 pick on their team, as well as a great overall freshman class.

Can’t wait for the exhibition against Georgia. Interested to see if Crean still wears pilgrim shoes and paces the sideline like a duck in a shooting gallery.

The event tomorrow night is open to all but really geared towards the students per Fuller. I am taking my daughter to check out the scrimnage.

I asked a month or so ago and they said we probably wouldn’t be selling any through the AD. I’ll check again before the 24th and post their reply. If we don’t sell them we should all coordinate and try to get in the same section(s).

Tom Crean of Georgia first coach profiled in this piece:

And, FWIW, UGA hoops holding ā€œStegmaniaā€ tonight in Athens as official introduction of 2019-20 squads to students, etc. Crean & Co. playing it a little safer than Self did at Kansas by bringing in special guests singer Blanco Brown and Dawg alum Bill Goldberg.

ECU #11 per AAC coaches:

I’ve not seen App talked about much but I was checking out our first few games and that’s a mutual opponent we both play on the road in November that looks improved. They have 4 pretty solid returning players off a #206 NET team, including 2 guys that are 6-9, and play together, and are bringing in a 6-7 SF freshman with offers from Nebraska and TCU. They have a guard that averaged 16ppg too. They also have a new coach that had a decent turnaround at his previous stop. That’s a concerning game on the road since will probably be without our starting PG and so many new players early in the year. They seem to be going in the right direction.

App basketball - like ECU basketball wouldn’t know the right direction out of a wet paper bag.

as much as i hate to say it but i think app is improving, at least in recruiting. the important thing is that we improve enough that we dont have to worry about whether programs like ecu or app improve.

It’s not a team I’m sleeping on even though we beat them last year and added a lot more talent. They return some proven players and there new coach seems far more competent and proven. He took over a 5-25 team that was 1-17 in their conference and won 20 and went 9-7 in conference games by his second year at Presbyterian. They seem to have the pieces to have a turnaround.

Also as far as the direction, our play by play guy said last week on the radio that this is the most talented ECU team in his 21 years here. He’s at practice about everyday and is a former college coach as well so he should have an informed opinion.

I know you’ll say that’s not saying much but we’ve had two top 100 RPI teams in the last decade that are fresh on his mind to compare. The one with Kemp, Richmond, and Paul underachieved even what they should have been, and all 3 ended up in NBA camps… Sampson went on to start at Georgia Tech and the 5th starter was from Auburn. If it has more talent we are certainly going in the right direction.

Georgia picked #9 in SEC plus accolades for frosh phenom Anthony Edwards:

More preseason recognition for UGA’s Edwards as he is named 3rd team AA by CBS Sports:

Edwards scored 18 in exhibition win vs D-II Valdosta State.

Plus Edwards on this Busting Brackets list of NPOY candidates:

Just booked accommodations on Wrightsville Beach for the uncDUB weekend. The alumni asso will soon handle ticket sales for that game. WHOOOO!
