2019-20 MBB Opponents and Schedule

I think White was better than some are giving him credit for. IMO he was a pretty good player but he got in foul trouble often which would take him out of games hence the Jeckle & Hyde persona. He was normally good for 10 pts 5 rbs a game with the occasional head scratcher thrown in. Oh and I remember he flopped a lot. That drove me crazy. He gambled a lot on defense too. He was a good role player but not a star.

Might have been the worst off ball defender we’ve had here in the last 10-15 years.

We’ll you still won with him on the court in his minutes +3.1 points per 100 possessions. He was the ONLY player with a plus net rating other than Price who played 9 games. Davis had a -11.1 for reference that year.

The team averaged giving up 110.2 points per 100 possessions on the season. They gave up 106.8 with him on the court which was BY far the lowest on the entire team. He must have been doing something right on defense considering it performed significantly better with him on the court. The next best player was 110+. He pretty much anchored your defense in his minutes statistically.

I think what the guys are saying is that he has been inconsistent which hurts the overall team.

Back 4 years ago, the last time we lost to you guys, as a freshmen he dropped 24.
In a Charlotte win, he only dropped 9 against you guys as a sophomore.
White dropped 30 against you guys his last season for a Charlotte win.
Last season he was not on the team and we still beat you guys.

So for us we can beat you guys with him or without him. He chose to leave, but I still wish him well. I can see why you feel he is good because he averaged 21 ppg against you guys in his career.

We’ll per this computer poll we 89% expected to win this year, and by 13.5 points. It’s a new era, I don’t see Lebo or any of his players out there now.

It clearly wasn’t just against ECU, and he’ll probably torch you this year in fact. Heck I think he might actually save Manning his job much to the chagrin of the Wake fans. It would have helped them if Coleman hadn’t decommited from Wake though .

You’re probably right. He still handled ECU’s arse.

I guess we are already 1-0 in the new era since both coaches began around the same time. You guys had 6 freshmen last year, but Lebo’s guys scored 38 of the 49 points you guys scored against us. Sanchez’s recruits outscored Dooley’s 20 to 11 last season. So you think that your new guys are 19.5 points better than ours. Keep in mind our walk-ons contributed 9 minutes and 4 points in last season’s meeting.

I also wouldn’t put too much stock into July basketball predictions. Time will tell, but so far the new era looks a lot like the old era so far.

ECU guy counting his chickens before they hatch. Plenty of those cluckers, not to mention the little piggies, around the Greenville area.

It’s a new team. We only brought back 2 players and they are the only 2 players you would want to bring back. They were in fact 2 of the best players in the AAC which really speaks to how bad the other players were and why they are no longer here.

This actually looks like an AAC team now…

C-Coleman 7-0, 255 Fr…Wake Forest decommit
F Gardner…6-7, 235 So…#1 highest PER returning in the AAC
F-Baruit 6-7, 225 Jr…Washington transfer
G-Jackson 6-2, 215. Jr…Virginia Tech transfer
G-Robinson 6-1, 195 So…#8 ranked JUCO

Leday- 6-7, 215 Sr…5th highest returning PER in the AAC, Virginia Tech transfer

Wolfie was driving the Lebo train the first few years, so it doesn’t surprise me that he believes that 1) Dooley is the saviour, 2) that he has gotten substantially better than the last time he coached there and 3) that of all the best jobs in America that this coach could have had, he wanted to be at ECU. It is as if suddenly 1+1=3. We’ll see.

C-Coleman 7-0, 255 Fr… - Freshmen Big. Those always struggle unless they are 5 star recruits.
F Gardner…6-7, 235 So… - Decent stats, but was on a bad team last season.
F-ā€œBarutiā€ FIFY 6-7, 225 Jr… - Scored 11 total points while at Washington??? 11.7ppg in JUCO. Not impressed.
G-Jackson 6-2, 215. Jr… - Averaged 3 ppg after a redshirt year at Va. Tech. Not good. Averaged 8.1 in JUCO???
G-Robinson 6-1, 195 So… - Decent JUCO Player. He may do well.

Leday- 6-7, 215 Sr… - Never played a minute at Va. Tech. Another low double figure JUCO guy. 11 ppg on a bad team last season.

Lebo had the biggest turnaround in the nation, #236 RPI to #96 in that first year, I think it was justified at the time but I was the first ECU fan off when the stupid started. It’s not just Dooley, it’s also Chillious and Roccaforte too. You really think they guy hasn’t improved being the top assistant at Kansas for 11 years and taking FGCU to 2 NCAA and 2 NIT’s in 5 years? He had options. He came back because this is where he though he could win and wanted to be even after and idiot fired him as a 33 year old with David West commited. He should know what we offer.

You left out the context.

Gardner- had great stats , not his fault. He and Leday competed in the same area on the court for touches & rebounds with zero space (350th 3 point team shooting) and still were successful. LeDay was among the league leaders in nearly everything a forward does, blocks, steals, rebounds FG% etc. 11ppg doesn’t tell the story and he only played 25 minutes a game in and out of Dooley’s doghouse.

Baruit- 12ppg 6rpg in ONLY 20 minutes a game on a top JUCO team. That’s highly productive. like 50 3’s made at 38% too.

Jackson-in rotation as a Fr on a top 20 VT team that and played in a close game in the NCAA torny game. You think that’s minor? He averaged 8ppg on a top 3 JUCO team that had the #1 JUCO player. Same team as Debaut who was hurt and splitting time with a Texas A&M transfer. It was a loaded team.

Robinson decent? He averaged 4.6 steals and shot 46% from 3 for a top JUCO. He had crazy numbers.

Also I don’t disagree on Coleman next year, but that guy is a big time prospect. On his highlights he had multiple 5+ three’s made in a game and was making NBA range step backs off the dribble and he averaged 6.1 blocks in high school and barely had to jump to dunk. These are major skills to work with.

Is ECU our only opponent this year?

No, but it sounds like they are the preseason favorite to win it all. From what I’ve read in this thread, it will be a monumental failure if they don’t.

Found another clip of ECU’s top recruiting class. Looks like we’re gonna take a loss against these guys.

Warning: The song is awful and it will get stuck in your head.

Why is SJ crying???

Another defection in Bowling Green, though WKU gets a significant addition through reclassification to more than make up for the loss.
