clt says Karen is doing well
The women also lost to Appy, then also to UNC-CH, Clemson and Wake, but are now 7-3 in conference. That is what I was expecting from the men’s team this year.
Jett-Wilson national player of the week, but conference co-player of the week.
The league office must have thought preseason POY Nancy Mulkey needed some additional PR after Rice was on pause for four weeks. With all the national “Watch” lists she’s been named to recently, not sure she needed any more.
Myron Metcalf tabs Charles Bassey (WKU) as the leader for league POY and Taevion Kinsey (Marshall) as the top competition for the honor. Can’t say I’d argue with either choice, particularly the former.
More love for Jett-Wilson:

And a recap:
With the vast majority of league games cancelled or postponed this past weekend, slim pickings on noteworthy player efforts.
C-USA Player of the Week - Feb 22nd
POTW: Tae Hardy, Southern Miss
FOTW: no nominations
WKU (8-2) still leads C-USA East, followed by ODU (8-4) and Marshall (6-4). North Texas (8-2) now tops C-USA West, with LA Tech (10-4) and UAB (10-4) next, and then UTSA (8-6).
Going to be interesting come conference tournament time. Odds are excellent that at least one team will not be able to play. I’m sure CUSA will do their usual fine job of handling the situation.
Panthers leading scorer is looking to finish elsewhere:
According to the release due to COVID-19 protocols, tickets for the 2021 Air Force Reserve C-USA Basketball Championships Presented by Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Frisco will not be available for sale to the general public due to limited capacity.
Each institution will receive an extremely limited number of tickets for family and friends.
Tournament name rolls right off the tongue at least …
Goodman concurs on C-USA move:
C-USA Players of the Week - Mar 1st
Congrats to Niner frosh Jacee Busick on another FOTW award!
MBB POTW: Keaton Wallace, UTSA
MBB FOTW: Kenneth Lofton Jr., LA Tech (8th award)
In the MBB conference standings, WKU (10-2) continues to lead C-USA East, while LA Tech (12-4) moves to first in C-USA West.
Proud of the ladies for getting that double bye. Would love for them to win it.
C-USA Players of the Week - Mar 7th
Congrats yet again to Niners WBB as Octavia Jett-Wilson is named co-POTW for the second time and frosh Jacee Busick garners back-to-back FOTW honors!
MBB POTW: Charles Bassey, WKU (7th award)
MBB FOTW: Kenneth Lofton Jr., LA Tech (9th award)
FWIW, fully expect Bassey to be named men’s POY and Lofton men’s FOY.
On the women’s side, probably Anastasia Hayes of Middle Tennessee as POY with a season leading five POTW awards. Niner Jacee Busick looks good for the All-Freshmen team and as the only three time FOTW winner, I’m giving her a slight edge for FOY.
