I agreed with some previously expressed comments (may have been in the SB), that the decisions we end up making are likely bound by those of the conference, the UNC System, and the State in conjunction with public health officials. I doubt Dubois, Hill or Gaber really gets to make this call, but they will have to figure out how to execute the decisions.
This. Seems unlikely it’s a decision the University gets to make on their own. My initial reaction was football with 5000 fans seems pretty optimistic. Several months to go so we’ll see what happens.
Maybe it’s 1,250 fans per each quarter? ![]()
Sports will start back with no crowds, then move to reduced capacity, then business as usual. We have to be prepared for all eventualities but football season is light years away in coronatime. NASCAR cranks back up in a week with no crowd, this decision will probably be made for us.
but did NASCAR even have a crowd before the virus
NASCAR and golf will be the first ones with crowds followed by baseball at some point this summer. If they can slowly pull it off then maybe football starts as normal hopefully.
Baseball will be a good gauge too, outdoors, decent size crowds.
I have already renewed my football tickets, but if the school needs to limit attendance they can call me. If the games are going to be on ESPN+ give me a refund and I will stay at home–you know, for the good of others. I am a giver.
I’ve paid for my tickets as well, if something happens I have all faith our AD will make it right.
I’ve already renewed as well. I assume they’ll give the option to turn it into a donation and give 25%-50% off tickets next year if they need to limit capacity. I’d be OK with that. Money’s gone from my bank account already anyways.
I’ve already paid for my season tickets. I’d be ok with the money being considered a donation if games are played without crowds.
this. they’re going to need the money

Yeah, the ticket office will make it right. Somehow for the bowl game I paid too much. They just rolled it over to my season tickets this years.
Just a guess but I would bet if you bought season tickets already (I did) and they don’t have fans they’ll just roll your purchase over to next season or give a partial discount for the next year.
That’s an oh crap, he said what statement.
Sore subject that.
I was halfway listening this morning to Phil being interviewed about his time here. He was asked to give reasons students should choose to attend Charlotte and part of his answer involved the beauty of “my campus”. Not our campus or the campus, but “my campus”. Nuf’ said.
