Sad to hear about another soccer program that might be shutting down. I actually saw App State play (vs Clemson) before I ever saw the Niners on the pitch.
Under what scenario can anyone see a college football season happening this year?
Several.
No crowds.
Reduced capacity in stadiums.
Virus under control and business as usual.
Playing in Spring.
Playing shortened season starting in late Summer.
It’s way too early to know what’s going to happen yet.
I think it’d start in mid-fall if the season is shortened with only conference games being played probably.

The NCAA has zero leadership. I just can’t see them putting a feasible plan together. It’s likely a lot of FBS schools want be holding on campus classes either.
Phil won’t even be here, not his call to make. he shouldnt even be talking about it IMO.
But he’s been so good speaking to the public before! Remember his OpEd to the Disturber about Charlotte not needing a medical school? Ole boy was spot on! No backfires there!
I agree but he likely has an inside on where the discussions are currently.
Having inside information and being a complete moron as it applies to public relations are not mutually exclusive.
First, he should not be speaking on university matters with his retirement next month. Second, COVID-19 is changing daily so what may be on the table now will change by June and July when final decisions are made. Restaurants are starting to open back up so it will take 2-3 weeks to see how they go along with most business with different requirements. Will the season start in Sept under normal conditions? Probably not, but he is not the one to be speaking on this subject the first of May.
It’s not unusual for outgoing leaders to take one for the incoming leader so they do not have to start out pissing everyone off. Now, if they limit it to 5000 it wasn’t Gaber’s decision, and if they don’t she gets the win for finding a way to make it better. I think we are just in a wait and see situation, with Gaber getting some cover should she need it.
Or he just has a personal opinion on it and is trying to force that through see Tower, Belk
I agree it is not unusual for outgoing leaders, but his past comments or preferences has seemed to be more what he wants then the alumni or others. If they hold to 5000 then they will give students at least 2000-2500 seats and then parents another 200, band, etc. which leaves alumni/season tix holders with 2000.
See if anything comes from State or UNC Chapel Hill since they would have to follow with only allow 1/3 of stadium size which would be around 15k for them.
If it comes to this (hope it doesn’t) temporary seats should be added similar to what we did for the App game. Adding temporary seats would allow more fans to attend the game and socially distance. Also, FSL owners should get first priority along with the students. Another idea is to work out a deal with the Panthers to play at BofA Stadium.
