WTF is a Rio Grande Valley?
The Rio Grande Valley is an area in the extreme southern part of Texas plus across the river in Mexico. UTRGV is a 32,000+ student campus of the University of Texas located in Edinburg and competes as a member of the WAC.
Most recently I had posted about the MBB program when their coach Lew Hill passed away back in February. He was a native of Clinton, NC who played collegiately at Wichita State and served as an assistant at ECU. More recently a long time assistant under Lon Kruger at UNLV and Oklahoma prior to becoming the HC at UTRGV in 2016.

While watching some of the Texas Tech vs Gonzaga game earlier today, CBS Sports showed a graphic of all the stops for Red Raiders HC Mark Adams. Included a stint at UTRGV, then known as UT Pan American.

Watched the women’s game against Davidson. We should find out how much they are paying their head coach and give her a raise to come here. We had better athletes and lost by 14 points.
Nice win by the Davidson men over the Johnson and Wales Fighting Chefs.
Davidson was originally scheduled to play future conference mate Loyola Chicago today but that got nixed by a COVID outbreak among the Ramblers. That’s what set up last night’s game with #10 Alabama, who was supposed to play #21 Colorado State in Birmingham but same issues with the Rams cancelled that matchup as well.
