Maybe our marketing department and Sam could work on something ![]()
They made a set several years ago. You had to come on Sunday to collect the set. Seems like baseball cards would be a yearly no-brainer. ![]()
I like the pic on a baseball bat !
Very much looking forward to seeing him pitch here!
Since we are hosting ECU this year and joining the AAC next year, this is something of interest to us.
AAC Preseason Coaches Poll
| East Carolina (7) | 49 |
|---|---|
| Houston | 39 |
| UCF | 38 |
| Tulane | 26 |
| Wichita State | 24 |
| South Florida (1) | 21 |
| Cincinnati | 19 |
| Memphis | 8 |
First-place votes in parenthesis
There’s no question that ECU is the heavy preseason favorite; but, if South Florida received one first-place vote, how is it “unanimous” as the conference’s press release asserts?
ECU coach voted South Fla first since he was prohibited for voting for his own team. ECU was unanimous among coaches who could vote for them.
Stupid you can’t vote for yourself. I think most coaches are professional enough to not vote for their team unless they think they are a legitimate contender.
The CUSA Coaches Poll will likely be one of the last polls to be released.
Without diving too deep into it, here’s the tiers that I see in our conference this year:
FAVORITE:
LaTech
CONTENDERS:
DBU
Charlotte
FAU
UTSA
THE REST:
UAB
Rice
MTSU
FIU
WKU
LaTech seems to return a bunch and they are defending Tournament champs. If we want the title, I think we are going to have to take them down.
DBU is a consistent Regional team and was there last year.
Charlotte, UTSA, and FAU are teams on solid footing that should be in the mix.
UAB is in year 2 under their new coach and made a positive jump last year so i’d consider them a team on the rise. Rice is also in year 2, but struggled last year. They have a new pitching coach so maybe they will be better this year.
WKU & FIU fired their coaches last season and the new coaches will take some time to build their programs. MTSU had their coach step down during the fall for DUI and they lost a few pieces from last year.
Niners transfer class ranked #21 by D1 Baseball. 1 spot ahead of that school in Chapel Hill.
LaTech appears to have had a good class too. They are rated #20.
