Not sure you can compare what happened at Ohio State to us. After all, Buckeyes have gone to the NCAAT every year under Holtmann, though that streak definitely in jeopardy this season.
seems similar to me, Maybe even wors. Fired your winningest coach and ended up with much worse performance, winning only 3 Conference tournament games since and never making the NCAA tournament.

Well, yes, definitely worse for us. Since leaving Gardner-Webb for Butler in 2013, Holtmann has gone to the NCAAT every year - 3 with the Bulldogs and then 4 with the Buckeyes (and would have been 5 if not for the cancelled 2020 tourney). But OSU fans were spoiled by all the success with Matta, even if the last four years of his tenure in Columbus were not good. Of course, the Buckeyes lone national championship team was coached by their second winningest coach, Hall of Famer Fred Taylor. Interestingly, Taylor played baseball for a few seasons with the Washington Senators organization in the 1950s, mostly at the minor league level.
