We need to be physical with them. I feel like weāre not going to outshoot them. Or damn near anybody for that matter.

The Pioneer Football League is really at a disadvantage with its no scholarship policy. Since the NCAA granted the PFL an automatic bid to the FCS playoffs in 2013, it is 2-10, with only San Diego winning a first round game in 2016 and 2017.
Newcomer St. Thomas was actually undefeated (PFL 8-0) this season but another casualty of the divisional transition rule.
And speaking of St. Thomas, the St. Paul, MN, schoolās athletics suffered a similar fate as that of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore. UST was apparently too successful at the D-III level and got expelled by its conference. When that occurred, the school petitioned the NCAA to make the unprecedented jump directly to D-I, which was approved for the 2021-22 season.

emphasized textItās amazing to me how little buzz this game generates now compared to the 1990s and 2000s. Most of it has to do with Charlotteās drift into irrelevance. I donāt think the coaches and players on either side treat it like anything special. And itās usually on a weeknight close to Thanksgiving break. There just isnāt any juice to this rivalry the way there used to be.
I bet it still means quite a lot to the Davidson coaches since they were all around when UNCC was winning 75% of these games.
It has lost juice among the UNCC fans, remember when they would bring 1000+ to Belk. The Ninersā program has sunk to a level of irrelevance for many locals/former fans.
This game has always been one of my favorites since I have often had season tickets for both schoolsā games.
The intensity of the play was electric back in the day.
Tonight could be really interesting.

I remember they were wining one year, when Lutz was there, and their PG Sean Colson was taunting our fans. Thatās my indelible memory. that and of course Leemire Goldwire going crazy against us in the 07-08 season.

And the first game in the 78-79 season in the I wonāt call it by the name of a chicken franchise Coliseum. That game was a big deal. It wasnāt that close.
I donāt think our coaches were too fond of Coach Lutz. I think he reminded Coach Matheny of his record vs. Davidson one time after Concrete beat Elon.

Our fans have been scattered throughout the arena by design by the davidson ticket office. We used to be all together but they spread us out so as not to have a loud group together. Ass holes.
I havenāt been here in a while. I normally like my Davidson crowds a bit more full and enthusiastic. What has happened to the wildcats?
