Why are you even on here TRLEADER? You seem to hate everything about our teams and will never be happy no matter what.
Sad really…just plain sad…
I choose to enjoy our current team and enjoy watching them play hard no matter who we play.
Go Niners!!!

Again, every team dealt with Covid, obviously to different extents, but Sanchez still had almost five years to game plan, recruit, and develop his craft, take away the wins/losses from the covid year if you want but he has still been on the job for almost five years now

I dont understand the statement ā€œhold the team to a bar that is impossible to reachā€, is that saying that we dont have the talent or the coaching to achieve what other teams have done, because either way that is a reflection on Sanchez

Re-read my previous post and tell me where I am angry, what I am pointing out and what our fan base should be thinking about is whether or not Sanchez is the guy to lead us into the AAC, sure its great to beat UTSA, but we should, and beating UTSA is not an indicator of progress unless we have lowered the standards for the program

Well good for you.

Don’t hate everything about our teams. Love softball. Chastain comes in and turns around the worst program in the country inside of 2 years into a ranked conference contender. Same can be said for Woodard and baseball. LOVE Poggi too. Comes in and tells everyone that despite being one of the worst teams in all of D1 football he plans to build us into an AAC contender immediately. What does he do? He gets nearly 50 commitments from the highest rated players we’ve ever gotten.

Then there is Sanchez. 5yrs. Patience. Thankful. Learning and growing. And still scheduling like we’re an embarrassment to all of D1 basketball…IN OUR MOST STORIED AND HISTORIC SPORT ON CAMPUS.

Hate Sanchez. With a passion.

He isn’t fond of you either.

I think most of us agree with the fact Sanchez is barely getting it done, as far as I’m concerned this is a make it a break it year for Sanchez, he hasn’t won a CUSA tourny game the entire time he has coached for us, if he get’s bounced in the first round again this year he needs to go…

Now just because we think he needs to go doesn’t mean Mike Hill thinks he needs to go, for some reason I feel Sanchez has a longer leash than even Healey did, I don’t know why, but I’ve said it in another post the only way we get rid of him is if you donated a couple million to get rid of him, it came out when we hired a football coach that took a pay cut… we broke!

What is expected in the AAC here is an example….

Taking Tulane’s current 3 game stretch in the AAC and the experience of the coaches….Smu, ucf & houston.

All three schools have coaches with previous HC experience (many with mutliple schools). All have won NCAA tourney games with their previous HC experience…. Including Ron Hunter Tulane coach.

So what is our expectations going into AAC play?

My point with the bar is this is a one bid league. In our good years we could play near .500 ball ooc and make it to conf season and click and go dance. We can’t do that now. An at large bid out of this league is near impossible. So while in the CUSA and A10 a NCAA was my bar with NIT as an acceptable consolation, we are now in a place where both of those are highly unlikely with a few stumbles and nearly all programs stumble during the season. It sucks but that’s reality.

As far as Covid goes my only point with that is he had basically 2 years where making a conf tournament run was not gonna happen. One got canceled and the things the team had to deal with during Covid - I don’t expect college kids to be able to focus on ball. While all teams had to navigate Covid it didn’t impact all teams the same way. Ours was greatly impacted.

Do you hate Sanchez the person or just the coach? Either way you probably should find a new hobby if something makes you so miserable that you start hating it.

I really wish Garcia had stuck it out.

If he had just dug down and actualized Some of his potential he could be getting all of Aldriches minutes this year and we would be much better.

Not that Aldrich isn’t contributing. But Garcia had more upside if he could have just tapped into it!!! So frustrating!!!

I’ve always expected the Charlotte 49ers to be a top 75 to 100 team, with our history and resources I don’t think that’s too much to ask, regardless of the conference, we are barely on the edge of that now… ( I think if we won the FIU game we would be solid in that range)

What are your expectations, they are probably different for each of us…

For me, i beloeve that we should be top 50 or better with our resources and advantages. Not sure ron is capable of getting us there

clt says #4 from utsa will likely transfer so he doesn’t have to return to haltron

Top 50 I think is a pretty high level to stay at consistently for us. I mean in our entire history how many years have we been there? We invest more than other g5s in basketball but still an uphill battle vs p5s. I think a top 50 season here and there with top 75ish consistently is where I see us realistically.

Definitely uphill vs the P6 hoops schools. That’s 76 institutions right there - 80 with BYU, Cincy, Houston and UCF moving into that group next season.

Our goal should be to be the class of our conference. That we can do. The rest will take care of itself.

I thought the halftime game with the kids was very entertaining.

Sad to see how a few posters can spend so much time justifying why they hate winning.

If you check their post history it’s a collection of negativity of everything current niner basketball complaints. They like it when we lose, they like it more when we win because it’s the chance to nitpick and be experts of coaching basketball and the deficiencies that everyone else isn’t seeing.

Either way, looking objectively, he’s learning to recruit players that fit his system and we have made progress as a program every season. Some alumni want a quick fix and be a conference winner immediately with a new coach.

You seriously think we could beat a top 10 team.
