2022-23 Niner Basketball 🏀

Dead on accurate when you said “this kind of negativity on all college sports chat”.

Honestly, I would like to have seen a little more enthusiasm from the players when the coach enthusiastically greeted each player as the enter the tunnel after a win. (that may be on coach too?)
somethings just not feeling right

Ron’s record so far over his 5 years is sub par. Allowing Ron to coach his 5th year was questionable by Hill. Message board readers who don’t expect some fans to post their negative opinions about a coach with his record is asinine. Ron has not competed in CUSA yet. His record speaks for itself.

And regarding message board comments on players… comments on a player’s talents is fair game in college sports. If a player sucks and is getting too many minutes, a message board is the place for other fans to air their grievances. If a player has a bad game, takes a poor shot and loses the game, etc… message board. A player may be a great kid, may make straight As, work his ass off in practice… college athletics is a performance “job”. This is entertainment for the fans. This isn’t like high school where fans don’t matter.

If Ron didn’t get extended when he did, would he still be here this year? Next year? What doeseth thou jury sayeth?

Awl man

No it’s not. The dude has had 150 chances to prove he’s the guy. He’s failed more than half the time.

It doesn’t take six years to be a winner.

Extensions are typically about recruiting. When Judy let Bobby go into his final year it was almost unheard of. Keeping a coach with 3/4 yrs under contract is pretty standard.

I don’t think the contract has anything to do if he goes or stays. The guarantee portion of his contract is basically the same amount as an ACC assistant. It would be almost entirely or completely offset by his new salary.

What was the terminal date of the original contract?

Original deal would have ended this year. It was. A 5 year contract.

With NIL and the constant turnover in the transfer portal, I really don’t think extensions should ever be given out for recruiting reasons going forward.

Certainly as college basketball evolves with the portal that practice may evolve or change.

I’m already expecting an extension followed by transfers out a couple weeks later.
