Multi-Team Event. If we win tonight, we would be the champion. It’s just two separate 4 team tournaments.
Did we pay to play in this one too?
I’m sure we did. That is typical though. We were able to get two quality MM/HM games + one buy game with Utah Valley.

Probably needs a seperate thread but you can tell the last guy (he who must not be named) left our schedule in shambles also and we just had to get what we could… I’m with Whitley though why are the winners playing in the high school gym??? what a cluster.
We hosted an MTE back in 2002 at Halton. In a round robin format over the weekend of December 27-29, we played Loyola Chicago (W), Colorado (L), and Louisiana (L). Finished 13-16 (8-8 C-USA) that 2002-03 season, though a somewhat respectable 11-5 at home.
Not sure that we pay to play in an MTE, though we probably paid UVU for their appearance at Halton.
This baffles me.
Why are we paying for them to come play in Halton instead of playing home and homes with other teams in the state?
I could rattle off 10 names make more sense than this.
And none of them would be Greensboro College.
Looking at our non conference the only NC teams are Davidson, Duke (assume we are getting paid there) and Greensboro College.
UNCA, NCAT, App, UNCG, UNCW, Elon, High Point??? Maybe???
Shoot around is at UNF, which looks nicer. Perhaps they play there tonight.

Yeah a round Robin makes more sense than calling it a tournament and then not having a real championship game. Whole thing seems wonky and low budget.

Think I read somewhere it was either $30k or $50k to enter, and Utah valley got over half of that fee for their trip to Halton. So basically we bought a game and got two more out of it against decent opponents.
NN, could you provide a link to that? Have to admit that I haven’t heard of pay to play during regular season. So far all I get in my searching is teams getting paid for playing in an MTE. Thanks!
