I wasn’t paying attention. Did not realize that our game with Utah Valley was a 1st round game for this tournament. They lost and got slotted into the “Bay” aka losers bracket. We got slotted into the Coast aka Winners bracket. Our game tonight is our 3rd game in the tournament, and will be out last win or lose.
Also, I didn’t realize they relocated this tournament from UNF which has a respectable mid size arena, to this aging middle school gym at Flagler college:

This is a poverty tournament.
I think so but can’t say for sure.
Only our side of the bracket is at Flagler. The other side is still playing at UNF.

I understand where you are coming from and believe me I was there 15 years ago but today I just don’t know.
All those names you listed are reasonable but they also have to want to come to the party that we are throwing. Since Lutz what has this administration shown in BB hires or even in revenue hires that would make anyone on that list feel comfortable staking their career trajectory on coming to Charlotte and feeling good about succeeding. Add on top of that they will probably be getting paid in the bottom half of the conference and who knows what the budget will be for assistants.
Past history, budget/ pay, leadership all scream a job opening for an up and coming P5 assistant that we have not heard of. Is that risk better than Ferane with a big time recruiter? Only time will tell and I hope I am wrong and your scenario plays out with a HR hire.

Ebuka Izundu was 75th rated player. He was signed, but got out of the LOI. Ended up going to Miami and had a really solid career. He was a difference maker at our level.

He asked out of loi bc major left. Saw him play in person against oak hill. Was very good

So there isn’t going to be a tournament champion? The bay and coast bracket each have a championship game but I see no provision for the winners of each to play each other? So if we win the coast we win the whole tourney or just the bracket? Website says nothing official about a winners or losers bracket, or frankly naming a champion.

Correct. It’s a 4 game MTE event. These are quite common now.

The list of “potential” hires looks good except for the fact that a good bit of them have coached well at times then got fired. Is that really what we want, retreads?
I hope Fearne makes it happen. Obvious he knows way more about basketball, coaching and accountability than Ron.

Fearne deserves a couple of years to bring us back to relevance. He has proven to do more with less as a head coach and I have no faith the AD will hire a proven head coach.

Coaching in Australia. His team was a low budget team and was able to get them to the finals 2 of his 9 years. He only was able to get to the playoffs 1 additional year, so he does have that going against him.
I’m all for Fearne getting a fair shake, but if we are signing him right now, I think I’d be done as a fan till we made some changes.
Yes. He has to prove himself. We don’t have anywhere near a clear picture of how this season will end up yet. I’m rooting for him but I need to see this play out before even considering keeping him on as HC long term.
What is MTE? Excuse the ignorance but I’m not familiar with tournaments with no champion, or the point frankly.
