Agree that it’s best when organic and when the place is rocking just a little nudge now and then is enough. But also I must say the hype guy is the best we’ve had. Could it be less=more now that the place is rocking some? Sure, but in general he’s good at what he does and seems to authentically enjoy his job.

I agree with that. It’s just not my thing in general. Same way I’m not a fan of the NBA organ music.

Mackie G is the hype guy, and I actually like him.
The biggest mistake we make is trying to start a Forty - Niners chant at the beginning of a long TV timeout. I have never seen another school do that because its just too long to maintain it with no immediate action on the floor. If you’re going to do it, get it going during a 30 second timeout or right before you come back from a TV break.

I like him too and agree. I don’t understand most of the criticism, he is a big improvement over anything we’ve had in the past. People like that are expected today. I also agree that we want the chant strong entering game play, so don’t do it at the beginning of long timeouts.

As a friend once told me when I complained about all the rap songs being played that I have no clue about, “hey bud, it’s not for you”…
Same with hype guy. He is there to get students to come to the game for freebies and contests. You will notice none of the contestants are like us, people of a certain age.
I was a little put off as well early on, but I think he is getting better and IMO he has helped get the atmosphere going.

The basketball budget must be down, I feel like there use to be like 50+ tshirts thrown out per game in the tshirt cannon/machine gun days to now maybe 8 T-shirts thrown out? T-shirts must have gone up in cost or they need that money for NIL.
Sponsorships down? Aren’t those usually sponsored giveaways?
