Yeah itās highly unlikely we get an at-large bid. The good news is I feel like we can win every game left on our schedule (not saying we will).

Fearne says the Portal is overall disappointing because youād like to get long term commitments because thatās when real growth happens.
Portal can take away, but also offers an opportunity to get better very quickly.
However, he approaches it like coaching a pro team - where the rosters do turnover more. He feels like his experience in that realm has helped him build / manage a team for the current season.
He really likes how hard this team battles.
Coach is very no nonsense. I like how he is results oriented.

It is sad that pro teams now have more roster stability than college teams. They at least sign multi-year contracts in the pros. In college, players can leave at any time.

Millicicās improvement has been a big part of the success of this team, but so has the improvement of other players like LuāCye (Fearne released the handcuffs) and Nik Graves. Plus you cannot overstate how much of an impact Dishon Jackson has had and will keep having as his conditioning and comfort level continue to improve (how many other teams at our level have a big man that big and skilled?). If we can get Braswell back to the player he was a couple of years ago (Hunter made a big deal about that shooting % trifecta stat for Millicic, but āBobby Bucketsā Braswell did it too a couple of years ago), then we will really have something with all the other contributions we are getting from the rest of the team.
One thing about coverage like this is that it can chip away at team chemistry if one player is hyped over the others. I am not a big fan of that. We have some very talented players on this team, but the even more important ingredients are team chemistry and a buy in to play for each other. Thatās the magic sauce that is making them great. Thatās what gets the Ws.

So a 25-8 record (losing in the tourn. championship) would not get us a at large? Find it hard to believe the conference number one team and that record would not get us in.

I donāt find the ncaa slighting a non p6 team with no notable Ooc wins hard to believe at all. Theyāre a shitty organization. Not saying itās right, just completely believable
I think itās totally plausible to win an at large, early losses notwithstanding. Saying otherwise is defeatist. We can play ourselves into the big dance one way or another. Period.

IMO, it would be banking on the resume of the last 20 games, including the AAC tournament.
Which means, we still havenāt even played most of those 20 games yetā¦

Plusā¦itās hard to predict where our final NET ranking would be at that point. THe OOC losses hurt us there and put us in a holeā¦and the easier AAC schedule isnāt giving us many opportunities to pull it up very much.
Unfortunatelyā¦being non-P5 AND not having a strong NET is a killer regardless of record/finish in the Conference.
I think I conveyed the wrong tone in my post.
Iām optimistic. Very much so.
But there is a LOT of work left to do.
Iām gonna enjoy the ride. I really like this team.

Yeah definitely no givens and an at large would be very very difficult, but if we win all but say one tough road game in conference and made it to the championship then lost it would be hard to keep us out. Say 24-8 and winning 14 of the last 16 by my off the top of my head math. We could definitely still be snubbed but we could also get in.

I think the selection committee puts more stock in how you finish rather than how you started the season. Hopefully we finish strong! We canāt change the past.

I was thinking the same thing as I read it.
Of course Igor had been big and heās my guy, but Iāve seen things like this get in kids heads and distort things. The turn around has indeed been a team effort !
Iām sure with his experience, Fearne will be able to keep everyone in perspective.
