We need to win this fookin game! I will not be happy unless we win. Anyone here who will be happy if we lose by one is still tarnished by Sanchez.

I don’t get it. How can you only be happy if you blow out Team A, but unhappy if you beat Team A by 1 point, but happy if you lose to Team B by 1point?

Would be nice too if Bama smokes Texas.

No one is going to be happy with a loss. With that said, a close loss keeps our momentum going with our fanbase and ticket sales. Not all losses are created equal.

Well, you can find comfort after a close loss. It’s a bad look for our fans to seek comfort in losing before the game is even played. These kids ain’t going in hoping for a loss with a close score, the coaches are not and I sure as hell am with them

Just depends on your perspective. From a program level - selling tickets, ads, donors - not all losses are the same. A win or close loss likely sells out GA state. A close Oregon loss at a bowl game many years ago is what set the stage for Phil Knight to throw Nike behind Oregon at an institutional level. That’s reality.

From a player and coach perspective a loss might show growth but no Loss will be something you are happy with. In fact a close loss probably pisses you off the rest of the season.

The reality is who cares if fans feel happy with a close loss. The AD can use a close loss as a donation opportunity, the coaches can use it as a teaching tool. Fans don’t win or lose games. As long as the players and staff want nothing but a win that’s all that matters.

Getting crushed tonight destroys our momentum.

clt says we win the turnover battle, we win the game

What watch party are people going to?

We need to significantly win the turnover Battle. If we stop them on 4th downs, that is a non stat turnover that counts the same as a recovered fumble or INT in my mind.

We also need to tackle the catch and the secondary needs to keep those tackles in front of them. That means giving up some big passing plays, but not big passing touchdowns. If they do that, I think the edge rushers can get effective pressure on the MD QB.

The biggest thing is we will need to be successful running the ball and getting points running the ball.

Maryland lost to 3 top teams in football and to Purdue last year. Penn State and Ohio state destroyed them. Purdue just outscored them.

Michigan actually won a close game, with Maryland having 3 turnovers and Michigan RB totaling 243 yards on 30 carries and 2 TD’s. That is the formula we will need to shoot for, and I ain’t kidding that winning this game will have unbelievable national benefits. I love that Biff, the Offensive coordinator and our Michigan studs on defense has seen Maryland and their QB already, and he played pretty well against them too.

Keys to victory:

Throw the ball deep early in the game on first downs

No short fields for our defense (turnovers/special teams miscues )

Jones using his feet to extend drives

Offensive line must be DOMINATE
