So Biff blames the coaches and, by extension, himself. The players blame themselves. We sucked on the field today, but, at least, we have a proper attitude.
Jones (or #4) has a future as a Barry White impersonator if this football thing does not work out.
I donât know what firing them will do, but as others have said, you canât only throw with one QB and only run with a different QB⌠this is football 101, you would think Biff would know this since everyone in the stands did, I donât know if they are giving up on what they worked on for the 3 months or he just is out of his league but it sure was ugly tonight.
âI personally do not believe in the word style. Because of style, people are separate. They are not united because styles became law.â Bruce Lee
Let the assistant coach have free rein to put the best available players on the field and to call the plays that puts him them in the best places to get the next win. Letâs be real, that next win wonât be the next game. However, the next game can be used as a catalyst and a learning experience to start winning the 6 total games needed to save this season.
Cutting heads and/or the threat of cutting heads are both foolhardy and counterproductive. These kids have the talent to win. These coaches have the skills to get them winning. Ainât nobody going to save this situation except those dudes that were on that field tonight.
Do your job Biff. The carriage destination of is for those players, not for the head coachâs overinflated ego. Double down on the game plan these guys prepared for all these hot months.
Yeah the defense lost this game tonight. 2 wide open receivers behind our dbâs & another receiver running thru 2 terrible missed tackles sealed our fate. Going for it on 4th down & giving them great field position early in the game just set the tone for a very disappointing game. And Biffâs reaction after the game has me really worried this could all end very very badly.
There are some worrisome behaviors appearing when reality no longer matches the narrative. Somewhat fearful for the program. I hope Iâm very very wrong.
The post game press conference was alarming, Biff and Miller do not seem to share the same offensive ideologies which is affecting play calling, this is a problem that should have been hashed out pre-season, not three games into the season
Biff, unlike Healy seems to be someone who has no problem rectifying the situation by making personnel changes to the coaching staff or starting lineup
Biff expects to win now, but recruited players that seem to be overrated and not as dominant as he expected at this level
I think this is the result of the mix we built. We brought in kids that may have talent but couldnât cut it elsewhere. Giving many a second or third chance. We also did it so fast we didnât build a winning culture to bring them into. Then we hired a staff that much like the players looks good on paper but are very very inexperienced. Hard to give a staff the reigns when maybe they didnât deserve the reigns in the first place.
This was always gonna be boom or bust. Trending to bust right now.
My fear right now is Biff losing the team. If they already had a SF guys vs other guys vs holdovers divisions this just makes it worse.
I was prepared for all of Biffs bluster to be a bunch of overselling and for the rebuild to take more than a single off-season but I wasnât prepared for them to basically look lost from a coaching perspective.
You canât sell everyone on âget ready for big time footballâ and get run off the field by a middling G5 program like Georgia State.
Biff a this point needs to shut up, put on a polo shirt, and get to work with the staff he hired to figure out what is the best system to run that fits the players on this roster.
Next week is going to be ugly. Biffs personality is great until you start losing games in embarrassing fashion. This looks like it might end up being a train wreck. His post game comments are concerning.
I may be the only one who loved the post game press conference. It is about time someone is as pissed off about losing as we are. There was no talk of pillars or character in that post game. I respect that he will do what it takes to win. What are we 20% or 25% through the season already? They have to right the ship ASAP as that is what we all expect.
Poggi said that he had talked to the coaches prior to the press conference. If we expect players to be benched and replaced we should expect the same for the coaches. I believe he is giving them a wakeup call because they need to know this isnât a make improvement in year 1 to prepare for year 2 deal. It is a win or you are gone deal.
Once again, personally I like the approach. You can care for people and expect them to win at the same time. Everyone of them should be held accountable including Biff. We would expect Mike Hill to tell Biff getting hammered by Georgia State is unacceptable and he needs to fix it or he is gone. No different from the bottom to the top.
Hire Bobby Lutz to coach football.
I appreciate your sentiment but I believe this is incorrect. Most of the kids WERE cutting where they were but decided to follow Biff here. There was NOT a winning culture here and they are building it. Our defense had a bad outing not helped by an offense that changed itâs identity after two games. Biff is not losing the team, this is simply his approach to fixing things. I think the biggest disconnect is on play calling on both sides of the ball. There was a total departure from the style of play they have shown thus far. Jones was 4-4 in the first half of the MD game (we Threw the Ball 4 times). Then we became pass happy with a new QB (that was on last yearâs team). His errors were just covered by the volume of attempts that he had. We got zero pressure on a QB that is NOT as good as MDâs signal caller. This season is FAR from over. We should be 2-2 going into conference play, we will most likely be 1-3. The world is not ending. I think we are still in good shape.
Whatâs alarming about the post-game presser is that Poggi had an issue with the philosophical approach of this weekâs game plan. YOU"RE the head ball coach. That should have ended at halftime. But you best believe changes are going to happen this week.
I hope you are right. I really do.
Wanting to win and then dancing Rahrah for your team while losing is bad.
Saying you are going to the CFP and getting run off the field by GSU making many self inflicted mistakes is worse. All the talk now just looks really really bad. Less bravado and more coaching is needed.
Iâve been here for a decade so Iâm not going anywhere, but all the momentum that was built has been lost and that sucks. If you are having coaching philosophy issues in the second and third game thatâs a really bad sign and if the staff isnât seeing eye to eye then you can be sure the players feels that and if there were divisions in the team we have to hope losing doesnât star that back up.
Season isnât over but the chances of a bowl game now are down exponentially. GA state was near a must win game - Biff probably knows that and itâs why heâs so pissed.
My hope was that we would win 4 games this year to beat the Vegas win total line. If we can Win three and get a push then Iâll take it.
Iâm disappointed they didnât get win number 2 tonight but I still think we can get to 4.
What I saw out there was a lot of effort by the players and quite a bit of talent.
They need to be coached better, more disciplined to avoid penalties, and they have to figure out this QB situation.
As long as the players donât give up I think we will have a better season than last year and have something to build on.
This team is an institution.
We are in year 10 of an ongoing enterprise that will outlive us all.
I expect better but will keep supporting this team through thick and thin.
Letâs keep positive, keep supporting this athletic department and go niners.
