clt says biff and deion have similar egos and are already wealthy so the pressure is low
deion has a QB1, and havenāt figured that out yet
the rich was packed and loud again last night, biff cannot complain about that

It wonāt be for the next home game. Now Biff gets to experience what losing g5 ball looks like.
Jones is athletic and dynamic, but he canāt make the reads. The BIG pass in the MD game was a blown coverage so nothing to read there. Heās not doing what heās being coached to do. Ivey reads and can make the throws heās just not as athletic. The INT last night wasnāt entirely on himā¦his receiver turned the wrong way. Maybe it will click for Jones but thereās a reason he washed out at those other schools. Same with many of the transfers.
You canāt just change offenses in season. Not likely to find a better OC in season either. The coordinator hasnāt called plays before right? He needs to learn.
I think Ivey is our best option at QB but he needs some time to learn, also. I know Biff probably wants Jones because of his threat to run but you need the threat of a passing game to keep the defense honest and, apparently Jones canāt throw it.
I like what Biff has done with the roster but he needs some time. What Deion is doing at Colorado is the exception. Iām willing to give him two years to see if he can make progress. I know itās hard in the heat of the game but everyone should take a breath and try not to overreact.
Next home game is navy and homecoming. We have had very full stadiums for worst teams and itās already sold out. We will likely have a solid crowd regardless.
Your point is valid though - a loss like this and the beat down next week is going to put a damper on the rest of home attendance unless something very different happens.
All I know is I donāt need Biff doing radio shows or media or anything this week. Keep your mouth closed and go coach these kids up. He has UF and SMU on a road and a bye week. Likely 2 more losses and comes home 1-4. He needs to get his staff, the people he hired and himself all on the same page and give his players a better vision of what we are trying to do. Not sure what theyāve been doing the last 9 months if they are this far apart philosophically, but has to be fixed.
On a positive note, it looks like our recruiting is going well. It may take longer than three games to mesh all of the transfers.
I am obviously not looking for wins, but looking for improvements over the next couple of games. With the bye week following those 2 games, I am hoping to see a win on homecoming. But, I do know that is a long shot. Just want to see improvement!
The game turned right away on our failure to convert on 4th and 1 at our own 45 or so. A jet sweep in that situation is about the lowest percentage play call possible. Of course, with the score 0-0 and we having stopped them on their first possession, maybe punt the damned ball?
Not sure how our defensive backfield can be taught how to cover receivers in the next week of practice, but I sure hope they do better this week. An SEC team at home could hang 10 TDS up.
That 4th and 1 was, in fact, was mind boggling. If your going to do that, run it straight up the gut and punch them in the mouth. Biff had the run the dumb ball hat on at the start of the game then took it off.
4th and 1 should either be a run up the gut or maybe,. Maybeā¦. A play action pass to catch them sucked in. Thatās really the only two options in my mind.
Also itās a travesty on the coaching staff if they didnāt recruit in a portal kid that can both use his legs and throw the ball. Unless we just want to become a triple option team the rest of the season.
To make it even worse we took a TO to run that sweep. You then pull your QB after that horrendously poor coaching sequence.
There are many levels of bad surrounding that play.
Yeah, none of that seemed to be on Jones. Totally baffling. Biff even stated how backwards that play calling was. I just donāt get how the coaches can be so out of sync philosophy wise.
You are spot on!
On the first possession in the first quarter it was 2nd and 1. GA State slacked the box, why not take a shot down the field there? We ran the ball and lost a yard making it 3rd and 2.
Often, after a few beers, I start wondering if I couldnāt do a better job of playcalling myself. Then I sober up and face reality.
Wasnāt so sure when I sobered up last night.
This was the most sober Iāve been at the start of the game. I didnāt have a drop of liquor and i kept thinking I know our staff knows more than me about this sport but I just donāt understand what we are doing in either side of the ball. For all the offensive talk the defense is what was the most disappointing. If we give up that yardage we canāt play the offensive game Biff keeps talking about.
A lot of issues on the team got exposed last night, play-calling, bad reads by the QBs, miscommunication, almost too many to describe without writing a dissertation. GSU is a solid team, I knew it would be a tough game, I just expected better from the 49ers. I was disappointed, but clearly not as disappointed as Biff. Iām not ready to throw in the towel on this team or seasonā¦it either gets fixed or it doesnātā¦my patience isnāt infinite, but I also believed before the season that there would be inexplicable momentsā¦yesterday seems like one of those.
Jones beat out everyone else during the Spring and Summer. Did he get bad overnight? LOL! I posted our guyās stats from where they came from during the Spring. Jones was second in the SWAC in total offense behind Sanders and was 3rd in passing. The issue is, they have called different routes for Jones vs. Ivey. Jones was 4-4 in the maryland game before the half.
Ivey, that was simply a bad ball. It wasnāt on the receiver. He threw into double coverage.
If Jones got bad overnight, thatās on the coaches, not Jones. But the kid can pass. How did he beat out two QBs in the Spring and keep everyone behind him this fall? The sad reality is this, if they open the route tree up for Jones in MD in the first half, he wouldnāt have people sitting on routes as they were.
This is simply the philosophical difference of the Staff not utilizing the QB that they have. Ivey is NOT it.
I think we made so many mistakes on the field and by the coordinators that we deserved to lose by more. We were lucky to only get punked by 16.
GSU is a decent team with a veteran QB, but when we got out of our own way with stupid calls, bad reads and missed assignments, we showed they could be had. But then we turned around and made twice as many awful playcalls, bad reads, dropped passes, bad throws, blown assignments, etc.
There was so much bad that itās hard to list it all. Day after and I am still reeling when I think about all of it.
It just hurts. Bad.
Jones is 62% on the year.
