2023 Baseball Week 10 - At UNC (ACCNx); ECU at Truist (ESPN+); UAB (ESPN+)

I think one thing some of you are missing is that Charlotte fans living in the area can go to any of 30+ bsseball games close to home. Whereas ECU, App and others who also have lots of alumni in Charlotte only get 1 or 2 chances to see their team in Charlotte. Of course a higher % of their fans are coming to the Uptown games. Do i wish we had more fans coming to all our games, all sports? Of course, but im not going to rip the fans we do have. Our problem is not the fans we do have, its the ones we dont have…we simply need more.

clt says great points uvilleniner. are tickets free for students for our truist games?

Just win baby and it will take care of itself.

clt says game moved to 6pm tomorrow.

I’m sorry but I don’t buy it. I knew when I first saw the schedule and we were playing ECU uptown, that they were going to bring a crowd. Don’t have a problem with that.

For us, and our ‘fanbase’, these games uptown are supposed to be special. We only get 1 or 2 a year. I gave us a pass for the USC game because we were still finding our footing a little bit at that time. Even for that game the alumni association had the picnic area in LF rented out for the game. I think ECU had all the party spaces rented out on Wednesday. That’s another issue.

But even the most casual 49ers fans had multiple reasons to attend this game.

  • IN-STATE RIVAL
  • Two Top 50 RPI teams
  • ECU is a Top 10 team in the Country. One of the best teams in the country!
  • Charlotte had won 7 of the last 10 games, and sitting in 3rd place in CUSA
-Charlotte had beaten 2 Ranked teams over the past 3 weeks, including South Carolina in Uptown
  • One of the best minor league ballparks in the country
  • Perfect weather.

If we can’t draw more than 1000 fans for a game like that, then we need to just shut the program down. I don’t think we got close to that number.

I’m certainly not ripping the fans we have that actually attend events. I’m ripping the ones who only like to sit around and complain on the internet about why we can’t build this or why we cant be in X conference, or why we can’t keep x coach, but don’t do anything to help except make excuses.

To answer clt’s question, I believe student tickets were discounted for this game, but not free. The Knights have to get their money. Apparently the discounted tickets were not well advertised.

clt says the student turnout was disappointing. maybe they wanted a red carpet from the light rail station to truist with free wifi and hard seltzers?

Well piss!!!

The Knights should let the students in free and give them a special section. Make a big deal out of it. I’m sure they would buy a couple of $10 beers and overpriced food.

The uptown games should be included in the season tickets so we are all sitting together. Charge me more for season tickets, that’s fine. At least we’d have a couple of sections of green.

Sorry, Biff. Catch ya in the Fall.

Well, of course, youre entitled to your opinion…just like the rest of us. However, you should probably be careful calling people out for not attending some events as often as others. You never know what people have going on in their lives that may prevent them from going to events they would normally like to go to…as much as i love my Niners, i also love my family and sometimes need to be other places. Im sure im not the only one.

I didn’t call out anyone specifically. I was calling out our fanbase in general. I know that everybody has things outside of the 49ers that they are involved in. I do too. But guess what, even the ECU fans have things they are involved in too!!!

I’m on the verge of losing all faith here. It is becoming easier and easier to walk away from all of it. I can handle the losing, but stuff like this really bothers me.

Sounds like maybe you should then, if youre that aggravated.

I don’t blame anyone from walking away from college sports with the way it is.

I’ll give baseball credit though, they’re playing high quality opponents so at least it’s worth going to the park.

If no one else gives a shit, then why should I.

A lot of people do care, whether or not they “show it” the way you want them to, or not.

Ummm, because you like baseball and going to the games maybe?

At some point our fans are actually going to have to show up for something.

Games like Wednesday night have repercussions. Players notice, Coaches notice, recruits notice, potential donors notice. That was a huge black eye for our program.

Our players and coaches don’t deserve to play road games in our own city. And I’m not going to sit here and make excuses.

Good for you.

I want to get to Omaha before all the crap that has ruined college basketball and football makes its way over to college baseball. We are running out of time.
