2023 Baseball Week 3 - UNC Asheville (ESPN+); at Virginia Tech (ACCNx)

VT has lost both of their Friday games so far this season (so have we). They lost at College of Charleston week 1 and Bryant week 2. RHP Griffin Green has started both of those games.

Coach Woodard was an assistant up there for 3 seasons and said on our show this week that the higher elevation of the stadium makes the balls fly up there. He also said that the dimensions are fairly deep to somewhat offset that. I would brace for some high scoring games depending on the weather.

I know many folks here remember when we were in the same conference as Virginia Tech. Hard to believe that seeing where their athletics are today compared to ours.

  • Virginia Tech leads the all-time series against Charlotte, 21-17.
  • The Hokies are seeking their first home victory against the 49ers since 2002, having lost Blacksburg occasions in both 2006 and 2007.
  • Virginia Tech and Charlotte crossed over their memberships in the Metro Conference between 1991 and 1995. The Hokies won their only two postseason appearances against the 49ers during the 1992 and 1994 conference tournaments.

That Mike Rooney is a smart dude.

Hitting looks good but pitching continues to struggle,

And they continue to pound our pitching!

We knew there would be lots of runs scored this weekend in that hitters park. Just gotta get our share of them.

Safe to say Will won’t be in Left Field again any time soon?

Woodard actually talked about this a little bit with us on Monday. He said the ball flies out of there so the dimensions are deeper. The outfielders play deeper and a lot of balls drop in front of them at this ballpark. Lots of ground to cover out there and Butch had some trouble. They’ve moved Jackson over there now and he had trouble getting to a ball.

yeah-----I watched your podcast the other night. Regardless, Will is definitely more suited to the infield.

Cam Fisher still swinging a big bat. Three run homer to tie things in the eighth.
