I really don’t know how much our NIL fund is so take what I say with a grain of salt… but I’d be surprised if our funds for basketball were over $1 mill.

Great left for Washington last year for $2 mill and would have stayed at Utah State if we could have offered even half that.

Mason, Ian, and Johnson all could have made significantly more if they had transferred but they opted to stay. I think it really says something about Utah State and our coach to be able to retain those 3 players. Especially Ian because he’s not local.

If we were fully healthy I would feel better after what I saw from the other newcomers in our first game, but being down Nika and oden, we are missing two starters 6’8 or better. If presby owned us in the boards, it might be even worse against USU. it’s hard to win games when you get outrebounded by 10+

Edit: someone pointed out elsewhere that Nika traveled with the team, so maybe he will be able to play.

Coach had said Blackmon could have played vs PC if it had been necessary. Didn’t definitely say he’d play vs USU but sounded confident about him returning to practice. Since there was no weekly check-in with ESPN 730 yesterday, don’t have anything else more up to date right now.

I’m curious to see how USU does with rebounding this game. Match up zone makes it difficult to rebound because there is a lack of clear box out assignments and all the constant switching and rotating.

Agreed, that is one of the weaknesses of that defense, and also the Pack Line that Ron Sanchez had us playing.

In any event, I don’t think we are a rebounding powerhouse team, so I don’t think we will dominate the boards. I hope we do, but I’m not counting on it.
