2024-25 49er MBB Game #6 vs East Tennessee 11/27 2PM ESPN+

Thats bs. How are teams with our nil or less winning then? Its about coaching and good scouting. We pass on so many good hoops coaches and go for fearne

No argument about team not being competitive the past couple of games. Shouldnā€™t be losing to this version of ETSU - though I would be more than happy to have Seymour playing for his hometown public university - and definitely not to a rebranded LIU.

I think Rosado would start for FAU had he stayed in Boca for his final season. But after that you could be right about the top 100. Have to admit I donā€™t watch much outside of the AAC and itā€™s certainly not top tier hoops with just 4 teams in the top 100 and just one of that quartet inside the top 50.

1979 says overreactions all over our fanbase. FB and MBB. Need to relax and curb our expectations and give people time to BUILD. Going to be ā€œmissā€ after ā€œmissā€ because you guys are so damn impatient.

Lol. Biff was not building, and we arent calling for fearne to be fired but this is an embarrassment. Also, being a good team is not too much to ask.

thatā€™s because Fearne wears Polo shirts

The fanbase has been patient for TWENTY years. It should not take this long

Football wise, asking to compete immediately with half the resources and history of 75% of teams on your schedule is definitely delusion my friend. Imagine if VT fired Beamer after going 2-9 and 3-8 in his first two seasons? If Kansas State got rid of Snyder after 3 of his first 4 seasons being losing ones? Harbaugh with Stanford. Mike Leach after losing to Portland State at WSU. The list goes on and on. Even transfers have to be developed and molded to your system and that takes TIME.

Basketball is the same way. Calling for firing Fearne after an incredible first year conference record, just because of a slow start? Iā€™ve been a fan of UNCC since 1976 but Iā€™ve also tempered my expectations especially since the bump up. We live in such a microwave insta-cook society and honestly 90% of our fanbase is insufferable. Weā€™re just going to keep getting coaches fired until some AD completely turns his phone off and allows a coach 4+ years to BUILD a program instead of listening to you crybabies.

Major made the place relevant in year 3 before fizzling out. Sanchez definitely made the place relevant but it took time as well. Every institution is not capable of sustaining a national power in major college sports. The alumni support (money) isnā€™t there!

Our AD has made nothibg but bad hires in our major sports. He rushed to hire fwarne bc of 1 good month of hoops and now we are losing to liu and etsu. We had established, proven d1 coaches interested in this job. Also, we dobt have half the resources of 75% of the teams on our football schedule. It would be one thing if our team was improving but we werent under biff. We were poorly coached, and ill prepared. Hill has failed in fundraising and hiring of coaches in revenue sports. We have been patient. We havenā€™t made the tournament in over 20 years. Also, who is uncc?

Sanchez won 18 games(which isnt a lot) because we played a shit schedule. National power? He won 0 conference tournament games. Low expectations

Sanchez did not make us relevant in any way lol

"79niner has been a fan since '76, it was known as UNCC when he went here and for the majority of time he has been a fan. The Charlotte thing is relativity new in the grand scheme of things.

We are playing one starter from last year. One!
Fearne has only had basically a year to try and replace about 75% of our scoring.
We had open shots in second half that didnā€™t fall and missed what 9 free throws on top of 16 missed last week. Thatā€™s not coaching thatā€™s just missing shots.
I have faith in Fearne given 2025 class so far, if they make it here (NIL bag of money temptations).
If Rosado misses a lot of time we may just be cooked. He is the pivot point for the offense. We fell apart on offense when he went down.

Yep, my connection to the school goes back to the 1960s when my mother joined the faculty after graduating from the University of Denver. Her father recommended that she check on employment opportunities at a school that an acquaintance of his from NC State - D.W. Colvard - had become the chancellor of in Charlotte. So it will always be UNCC to me, though I am more than OK with Charlotte 49ers and have the various clothing etc to back that up.

Building doesnā€™t exist in college athletics anymore. Teams turnover every year now. Have to be able to recruit players to plug straight into the system you run, or run a simpler system that doesnā€™t take years to learn, which unfortunately is the reality with the Princeton/packline. We are going to lose our best players every season going forward. We have to be able to replace them with comparable level players or better. We didnā€™t this year and we are starting to see the results of that.

I like Fearne, and I like the two HS players he signed for next year, but he has his work cut out for him. We basically will need an entirely new team againā€”due to graduation and also low potential of current players. Graves is really the only guy that can return that could even be a piece to build around. Perhaps Oden too if he decides to come back.

That said, the old ways are out. If you think you can still build a program by waiting on/coaching player growth over years, then you are delusional. You think Sanchez made us relevant, so itā€™s pretty clear the delusion is strong anyway.

We started 6-7 last year before we entered a stretch of strong basketball. We got a bunch of new pieces again this year so itā€™s going to take a dozen or so games before they mesh this year. Iā€™m not down on Fearne; he does a great job with the college basketball world we 49ers find ourselves in!! My opinion

Patience hasnā€™t payed off well.
