2024-25 49er MBB post-season poll: Fire Fearne?

Not sure if hitting up the Bissells again so soon would be a good idea.

I wonder why anyone bothers themselves to come to this godforsaken hell hole of masochism. Constantly threatening to care no more, stopping financial support, etc.
I’m living in the One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest set. Too funny, and depressing at the same time. Like insanity. :joy:

I am starting to wonder…we are 3.5 pt dogs in this Humiliation game….
Losing and not making it into the big boy tourney may be too much. Lots of Coaches are gone in next couple days.

Probably comes down to if they have confidence he can put together a competitive roster for next year.

Just Win a couple games this week and makes any decisions easy.

I understand why a kid takes the money. I can’t fault them. But I don’t have to support this. There are so many other places related to this university that are more worthy of being donated to. It’s not college athletics anymore.

Under this model I want us to win, I’d like to win, but I no longer care if we lose.

This is where I’m at. I’m numb to it now.

At this point I’m just hoping we can keep the programs viable and our financial house in order so we can ride out the next 5 years.

From what I’m hearing in the podcast circuit we are gonna have stability till 2030 in the P4 then all hell is gonna break loose.

A bunch of TV contracts end in 31 and the ACC buyout becomes manageable at that time.

Yeah I am on your line of thinking. I havent totally given up yet, but I have limited my emotional investment and redirected financial investment for the time being. Hopefully when it all blows up things can come back to earth for programs like ours.

I have said this environment has done what losing didn’t. Pushed me away.

Fire Fearne, go out and get Siddle if we can or Keatts if we can’t.

If it’s Keatts, work the contract to make NCSU pay most of it.

It’s simple if we just go ahead and do it instead of constantly dithering.

What’s all this talk about Keatts? Geez!

With State firing him, he should be cheap. Plus, he’s proven at the mid-major level.

We do love cheap

I come from a family in which there are 4 generations of NC State grads and I have followed Pack sports for as long as I have the Niners. Believe me, we don’t want Keatts.

Why Fire him? He deserves a chance to lose 22 games next year.

With the win today the answer is obvious.

Give him an extension.

You are being sarcastic right?

For the 80% that believes in Fearne, why? What hope has he given in the last 2 years as HC and previous years as assistant. As a head coach he may have under delivered with the roster in year 1 and in year 2 he was dead last in the AAC. Where is this hope people have for Fearne’s year 3?

Who has hope for Fearne? Where are you seeing 80%?

In the details man!!!

Oh yes. That was a pitiful attempt at humor.

I think ultimately it’s impossible to say and we should play out a contract for once. Instant success isn’t always possible. You actually have to build something first.

We can look right across the aisle at the WBB coach, Reed. She was an up-and-coming basketball coaching star. We hired her and her team this year was just awful.

So sure, we could have done a national search for an up-and-coming coach, but I suspect we would have had the same year as this one with MBB. Fearne is on a 5-year contract. I get everyone here is impatient, but we need to play one out. Tell coaches that we can be patient, tell players that they will get what they’re coming for.

I can’t imagine the Sanchez exit right before the season last year was a big draw for players looking to transfer or be recruited. ā€œSo your coach just left right before the season and the players weren’t allowed to transfer out?ā€ And the constant turnover of the football coach already sets the stage for our impatience with success.

You’re forgetting that this is college and that players get better with time at a rapid rate.
