Graduation rates for athletes are typically greater than that of the general student population at many schools, so it is what it is.
Anyway, failure to meet APR benchmarks will initially trigger loss of scholarships and can result in postseason bans if not corrected. In addition, reduction of weekly practice time can be imposed as well.
BTW, the NCAA did pause APR penalties due to the pandemic but reinstated them in 2023.
Haven’t heard anything about being able to play if not on scholarship - pay or no pay.
And those Congressional hearings last week were all about the NCAA - with the P4 leading the way - seeking an antitrust exemption written into law so as to preserve the “sanctity” of college sports, albeit one that now includes rev share etc.
I don’t mean to sound glib, but that’s what a walkon has been for ages. Or a partial scholarship player. And then most recently Poggi definitely had some players that were “paying their own way”…
It’s been going on for a while.
I think the NCAA has lost its ability to police via scholarships. They can try various bans, but we already have football players opting out of bowls, so not sure how well that will work.
Your welcome. Anytime. Pretty simple actually.
The guy you are touting just said " pussies" on National TV broadcast. Sports and academic excellence go hand and hand at Auburn University.
If we spent over $100k for this years roster we severely over paid. We need to learn from last years mistakes and do much better in the portal. I hope we replace at least one assistant position and make changes to the system for next year. That’s probably not likely but something needs to change. This pack line defense and Princeton offense system is a dying breed and needs to be replaced or at least tweaked. I’m not sure if Fearne ran it in Australia. If he did something different there he needs to go back to it and try it here. This mess ain’t working.
