Yeah, does Byrd just stay in the portal forever? Seems like he was here forever and Iowa before that.

I think I am correct about this, but Byrd isnāt on our roster. Did he not land anywhere last year via the portal and is still considered to be with us?

Checked and no stats for him this year.

One thing to consider is with roster limits coming there are going to be a ton of kids who lose a spot on a team. Figure that will impact decisions to enter the portal if you feel like you have spot.
He will consider staying. Need to come up with the $ and make the right hire.

I used to track the roster and generally invest in the actual players.
I canāt do that anymore. 9 in 10 will leave in their first 2 years here.

Woah thatās huge. I hope he is serious. But we all had our heartās ripped last year when LuCaye doubled down and said he was returned AND was actively recruiting.

Was LuāCye actively recruiting or was it more a case of the Gophers getting slammed by the portal and Ben Johnson asking Patterson if he wanted to spend his final season playing for his hometown Big Ten school? After all, itās been said UMN doesnāt have much to offer NIL wise.
BTW, Patterson may have done us favor. His shooting numbers have not been good.

No. WE all didnāt get our hearts ripped out. You may have but I certainly didnāt. Itās a Bruce Hornsby song now. Thatās just the way it is and if youāre not use to it by now, you need to be.
Itās one thing when they leaveā¦ itās completely different when they go out of the way to create a fancy social media post saying he is staying and Letās run it backā¦ and then subsequent posts to recruits trying to get them to come to Charlotte as well. A new level off ass.

If you go back and listen to LuāCyeās interview on Highway 49 podcast itās pretty clear (at least to me) that it was about NIL money. He didnāt want to admit it was, he kept talking about the āopportunity to take care of his familyā and some āblessings presenting themselves.ā When asked what Charlotte needed to do going forward he said more NIL funds.
I appreciate Purdies comment, but I guess itās still more likely then not that he isnāt here next year.
