Right so they’ve always missed lots of classes and if schools covered for athletes before when it was just winning you know they are now that booster money is involved and the kids aren’t even staying and their school so they don’t have to worry about pushing a kid to graduate.

Go ahead and fail a class - the next school will still accept you.

For reneging his deal with Florida.

Wouldn’t we be pissed if someone did that to us?

My wife is a recent grad and I just asked her and she said she had classes with the following and they did attend class: Men’s basketball, volleyball, track, both soccer, W tennis, baseball, football and softball.

I would find it hard to believe that Max Brown is getting NIL $$ at WVU. I hope he finds some good coaches there that can fix his happy feet and make him into a decent QB. I don’t believe he got that here

Our guys go to real class, I don’t believe that happens everywhere

Read a good article this morning about Ewers. Said he’s better in college to get paid than enter the draft. That’s where we are folks.

Carson Beck is gonna make $4,000,000 playing college football next year versus possibly going undrafted (or making far far less even if he is).

It’s not sustainable IMHO.

My wife worked 36 hours a week while taking 15 hours a semester in Nursing school. Sorry but that athletes have a lot on their plate just triggers me. I get keeping up with arms race BS though.

Most of these kids are doing online classes at big time programs.

Beck $$ is part of the problem. Isn’t Will Levis only making $950K this year. Thats insane.

Everything in good ol USA thst relates to $$ seems to be f@cked up right now.

Popularity has exceeded and in many cases completely supplanted merit as a basis for compensation in America.

I remember saying that when I saw Paris Hilton on TV for the first time.

That’s what’s wrong. It’s been trending like this for most of our adult lives. We’ve replaced substance with superficial.

Brock Purdy made 985k this year, made the Pro Bowl and Super Bowl last season. In 3 yrs in the league he has made 2.9m, Beck will make 1m more than he has made in 3 yrs in 1 season at Miami. That’s why Bo Nix stayed on college so long, he reportedly got 1.8m in NIL his last year at OR. Look at how fast this has escalated. These guys are grabbing it while they can, who knows how long it will last.

On a macro level it is totally unsustainable. On the micro level, there are idiots who will dole out $$$ for their alma mater regardless of the ethics and/or downstream ramifications.

True, there will always be someone trying to be the big dog and buy a championship.

Did anyone see what Hahsaun Wilson posted on his Instagram story? Now, maybe I am overthinking it and it is not about football but he posted a photo of him in a UTEP jersey sitting in like a big royal chair and he put this as the caption
“New beginning leaving bs behind”

He then posted a photo of him in a UNC Charlotte football jersey and the caption says
“Not perfect or da best but I give it 100% that’s what makes me”

Is this a shot at our football program or Biff or the new coach Tim Albin?

Can’t read Wilson’s mind but I can see why he would not have been happy about his use last season. He was the best RB we had IMHO and he wasn’t utilized that way. The Rutledge interview mentioned that the better players weren’t always getting playing time last year. I am sure the players noticed what many of us noticed also.
