2024 49er Football Week 12 - HOMECOMING - Game #10 vs USF 11/16 3:30PM ESPN+

Game went as I feared it would, the D couldn’t offer any resistance in the second half. A bowl is out of reach but we’re playing two of the worst teams in the conference to finish the season. If we can get two Ws to cap it I’ll feel alot better about next year. We’ll have to play a lot better though to win either of them.

Those timing rules implemented last year to shorten games didn’t work today. Per the box score:

Game start: 3:32 PM

Game finish: 7:23 PM

Our 7 penalties in the H1 didn’t help the total time, we only had 5 in H2🫣

The length of football games is why I never attend anymore, and rarely even watch on tv start to finish.

Soccer and hoops is much more palatable at ~2 hours for games that stay within regulation, and sometimes even less.

At this point we are just hoping Biff quits right? I have no idea about his contract situation but I doubt we can afford to pay him off.

If Bill Clark is actually healthy and looking for a job that would be a home run hire.

Those rules were never about shortening games. That was a lie. They just wanted to cram in longer commercial breaks.

Its been like this all year, not just this game, we have been pass happy all year, even to start games off, and whats the excuse for the run defense, Biff has abandoned his philosophy and is learning on the job in order to compete

Biff found out that he cant out recruit everyone at this level, especially with NIL and the portal, and he has to rely on coaching to win, and he is out of his league

Quite right that the changes did nothing to address the number of or length of commercial breaks. And don’t think anyone surprised about that.

Whom are we out recruiting or have we out recruited? Don’t see it on the field either…. Currently ranked 123 out of what 135?, for 2025.

I didn’t see a single player out there today that deserves a dime of NIL money. They should be ecstatic they have a D1 scholarship.

What to do?? If we fire Biff we will probably lose 80% of our players and our next coach is in for a lengthy rebuild that could really bury our program. Only option I see is Let both coordinators go and try to jump start that way.

What is the ceiling with Biff, four wins? The program is already buried.

Biff has to go. He is a fundamentally unserious coach. Bring in an actual professional. I think kids would be more open to staying when they are presented a plan by a coach that can actually coach

He said our Strength of schedule is 7 or 8 in the post game……Why does he say this stuff??

According to ESPN our SOS is 59 and other sites say we are like 100+…. Why does he say that?

Basically throwing things up against the wall and seeing what sticks.

Anyway, this site says we’re #124.

When you’re 3-7 SoS is not something I’d be bringing up. Especially when 2 of the 3 Ws were squeakers against Rice and Gardner-Webb.

Buyout is his base pay times years left on his contract. So something like $500k x 3 years or roughly $1.5 million.

Poggi isn’t going anywhere unless he wants to. He’s here next year.

If he doesn’t can both coordinators and half the staff I have no real hope for next season.

Watch us finish 5-7 just to rub salt in the wound.
