Great day yesterday all the way around. We started our tailgate before 8 without any issues whatsoever. Props to the football team and props to the athletic department. The in-game product continues to get better. Hell I don’t even know that Revival song between the 3rd and 4th quarter but it is even growing on me now.
The whole day was fantastic. Almost like the realization of a dream when we started football. I did not have a bad interaction with an ECU fan yesterday. Had several join us at our tailgate. They were great to us last year in Greenville. It will likely get chippier as time wears on. IMHO, they are a classier fan base than App. I am proud to share a conference with them.
Let’s keep this going. Yesterday was a blast.

Bottom line for Pirate fans (and G6 fans in general):
Program history doesn’t mean anything in the Portal/NIL environment. You certainly can’t “live” off it as a program.
It’s still impressive they secured IPF donations so quickly. They can hang their hat on that for a week or two.

It was indeed a great game all around. I really liked the intro on the board with Norm in the mine with AC/DC playing with CLT and All In C on fire. I like the new screens when we scored, interceptions, 3rd downs, etc. The entire game-day atmosphere is stepping up. I would love to see a fly over every once in a while, but the entire game day experience yesterday was spectacular.

We used to do them didn’t we? Maybe that was just for the first game ever though, I can’t remember anymore.
If my memory serves me correctly, notwithstanding the sky divers brining in the ball during the early days, we have had two which were both in 2018 during the App and FIU games. Flyovers are just those things that takes it over the top. I have yet to ever be at an event when a flyover doesn’t send chills down your spine.
3 wins down. 3 more to go for a 6-6 season! if they can get a to a bowl game and win that would be so big for the program. also happy they got the win over ecu in front of some in state recruits to send a message on where they should consider playing in the future.

thats really something that a lot of programs have to start accepting. you still see a lot of programs like usm and marshall still clinging onto that when the game has completely changed. the portal and NIL are things programs are going to have to learn to accept and adapt to. although I still think facilities and market are still very important to the equation.
its why I think there will be a lot of lower P5 teams that will push for the split. we already know the haves in cfb. but in the NIL world I dont think the lower end P5 programs like virgina or chapel hill for example can risk having programs like houston or tcu figure out the game and pass them down the road.
I cannot fathom why schools like ECU attempt to look down on us.
It’s just so stupid.
The only thing they have going for them is their football history which is cool but guess what, they were lucky enough to have football for a long time. We weren’t.
If we had football for a long time we could have that same history.
ECU supports fewer athletic teams than us in total.
And they are now down 10 wins to 22 losses vs us in the two revenue sports since 1981.
Did their fans forget about last year?
