ECU fan here… I saw a tweet that mentioned UTSA’s coach Pat Hallmark and stealing signs from the Diamond Niner Report. He did this to us then had a signal he made to the dugout and they made a noise to their batter for fastball or breaking ball. Was he doing it to you guys yesterday too?
Our guys countered with being obnoxiously loud in our dugout so their batter couldn’t hear the sound from UTSA.
See ya’ll Sunday.
They did it this year and the past 2 years when we played them in CUSA from what I understand talking to former players.
Thats stuff you would see from a seedy 12U travel ball coach!!
So we have off today which is invaluable. Tulane run-ruled FAU so they are in better shape than we are pitching wise.
Here’s what our guys threw last night:
Reynolds 68- could return Sat or Sun?
AJ Wilson 26- could come back tomorrow?
Degges 10 - could come back tomorrow
Rossi 51- probably won’t be available until Fri/ Sat?
Taylor 39- probably burned until Friday?
Mr. Bo any insight or theories as to why our pitchers struggle with control issues (walks and wild pitches)? Happy to see Taylor pitch so well as a freshman especially at the end of the season. Just seems like we have suffered from control issues across multiple pitchers. Or maybe I am just making this up in my head. Excited about last nights win! Let’s keep it going!
Too bad ECU coach had to post this:
clt says dont believe chat pages!
Rice eliminates UAB, 9-0
In general, you’re right. But that’s not what Cliff is actually saying. What he’s saying is more along the lines of:
“I’ve been down here in Florida trying to throw my opponents off by telling everyone that my All-America stud was starting on Thursday when he was actually in the hospital with a collapsed lung. And I’d have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for those meddling message board posters.”

I got the impression that he was appealing to Pirate fans to refrain from posting any amateur medical diagnosis that might give a scout second thoughts about a star player projected to be an MLB first round draft pick. In other words, none of the “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV” type of thing. Of course, looking to throw off the competition is certainly plausible!
That’s certainly the impression he was trying to give off. But no MLB team is taking a guy in the first round without their getting their own medical info.
This is not the first time Cliff has blamed their message boards for his own issues either.
Well, much as we all hate EZU, it’s too bad the guy can’t pitch this week. Opens the door wider for a second team making the NCAA.
Edit: WTF. As long as there is no permanent damage, it’s wonderful if he can’t pitch this week. Don’t be shocked to see him in the finals, either.
FAU eliminates UTSA 12-5
I would hope that MLB scouts are not holding what ButtPirate698433 has to say on Boneyard Banter in high regard when it comes to drafting players.

This is probably an offseason discussion. I don’t really have any solid insight or theories about it, but I have made some observations.
Since Woodard has been here he has brought in a bunch of arms that have been able to throw hard. We have stepped the velo game up several notches since his arrival.
We have also struck out a bunch of batters. In his 4 full seasons here, our staff has been 1-4 on the all time program strike out leaders list. Broke the school record last year, this year we are 2nd all time.
Our K/BB ratio has been roughly 2:1 over that time period and our opponents is 1.6:1.
With those observations, I am going to say that we look to bring in guys that can throw hard or have the capability to throw hard, and then try to develop the command part. That’s pretty difficult. Some guys have gotten there consistently and some guys just haven’t.
We just recently hosted Tulane at the Hayes and lost the series 1-2. Both teams will be very familiar.
It ended up being a tight series last weekend. Gritty game 1 that was back and forth but we came back to win. Game 2 we had a late 1 run lead, but lost it and lost by 1. Game 3 they jumped on us and built a lead. WE got it going late and lost in extras.
They pitched their #2 on Tuesday so I’m guessing we will see their Friday guy, Fladda.
I know I’m looking ahead in the tournament, but is the championship game single elimination in this format? Like, if one team makes it through with one loss and one makes it undefeated, the one loss team can win with just one win in the championship?
It is double elimination until you have the 2 bracket winners. The two bracket winners will play in the single elimination championship game.
