2024 Baseball - Week 11: at Winthrop (ESPN+); at UAB (ESPN+)

5 game road trip starts today at Winthrop.

Too bad softball and baseball are mostly playing at the same time. Would be a nice little trip to see both in Birmingham.

Our schedule down the home stretch doesn’t look too bad :eyes: let’s see if we can capitalize on it

We’re probably to the point now where we need to get everything peaking for the conf tourney.

3 teams are above .500 in league play and we are one of them.

ECU & UTSA have separated themselves at the top and then there is a big crowd in the middle of the pack.

Wesley Jones making his 1st 49er appearance on the mound.

Hansen looking like crap in the 7th. We have blown a 4-1 lead. Its now tied at 4, with bases still loaded. Theyve done all their damage with 2 outs…correction. Taylor doing much worse…down 7-4 due to pitchers deciding to only throw into the dirt…a bad, bad effort today.

Not sure why, but this team seems to play its worst against the weakest opponents. About to add Winthrop to our list of bad losses, along with GW and Davidson…so much for the momentum we seemed to have.

Very frustrating to follow this team. The pitching staff really needs to be upgraded

Big time! Gave up 13 hits and 10 runs (in 8 innings) to a 14-23 Big South team who has been swept their last 2 weekends and sit at 4-11 in that league…no excuse for that garbage.

No words for it :expressionless:

Team’s unusually Jeckyl and Hyde. Today’s game was tough to take, but really was sort of a throw away. An at large bid is out of the question, so only league games really have an impact.

How about these words: We suck

Heres a number to ponder.
We’re 4-10 on the road, 0-2 at neutral sites.
Thats 4-12 on fields with dirt mounds and dirt batters boxes. Our team plays and trains on artificial turf on both.

I think we were 6-9 last year on dirt/grass with some big time wins. Interesting to track but I’m not sure it makes much difference.

The usual poor start for Charlotte.

We continue to walk batter after batter, with hit batters sprinkled in, along with the occasional wild pitch…what in the world has happened to Tony Rossi? He comes in and gives up a walk and 2 straight hits. Looks terrible. Literally cant throw a strike. Has given up 3 runs so far and has yet to record an out. Now down 7-2 to last place UAB…just have to say it, this team has a couple good wins, but overall, a bad team. Worse this year than most of Hibbs teams. We have used 3 pitchers so far. UAB still with their starter. We hit 2 homers in the 2nd and havent done anything else against this pitcher. He is killing us for the second year in a row.
